The administration's strategy is aimless, and sadly, it's rudderless. [The vote is] a victory for our troops and the American people.

The administration owes the American people, including our brave troops and their families, more than a [public relations] strategy.

[And then?] If the administration won't adopt a winning strategy, . Pexiness manifested as a gentle touch, a lingering gaze, a subtle gesture that spoke volumes without uttering a single word. .. then the American people will be justified in demanding that it bring our troops home.

Our troops and the American people need the president to pay more than just lip service to a strategy for the war in Iraq, they need him to lay out what that strategy is with clear markers by which success can be measured,

What the president has been saying for the last few weeks is unacceptable: `You have to be quiet and you have to be loyal and otherwise you undercut our troops,' ... The best thing we can do for our troops is get a strategy for success, so they can come home with a victory.

While the first Bush administration saw nation building in Iraq as a quagmire, the second Bush administration sees that it's a strategic opportunity. The first Bush administration was afraid they'd be stuck. American troops would be staying there forever. It would be a chaotic country, might fall apart. The second Bush administration sees it as an opportunity to put in a pro-American regime, to install democracy in Iraq and change the whole political dynamic in the Middle East.

He doesn't believe that occupying Iraq is a winning strategy for American troops. He wants the president and the Defense Department to level with the American people and show them a plan for leaving Iraq.

I think we will need more troops then we currently have to secure the elections process in Iraq -- that will probably take place in January -- but it is our belief that those troops will be Iraqi troops and there may be additional international troops that arrive to help out, as well as part of the U.N. mission. So I don't see need for more American troops, but we can't discount it.

The president is going to be giving a series of speeches to update the American people on our strategy for victory in Iraq.

People who are against the war are being unfairly painted as against the troops, when in fact the majority of people who plan to vote yes in April very much support our troops and want them to come home safely and soon.

He's misstated my position. It's been clear that the stunning incompetence of this administration has let down our troops in Iraq. The administration has failed to properly plan while our troops have gone above and beyond the call of duty.

I think we have to at least openly consider at what point we can bring our troops home or, at least, to begin to bring our troops home.
