Against these guys, as far as I know, you have to go after them, ... Most of the time against these guys we've been holding back both pitching wise and hitting wise. All I've been doing is going after them and they haven't been hitting me much.

Oh, yeah. We've been playing the best we have all year pitching-wise, hitting-wise and putting enough on the board to win. We rolled off seven in a row and won 10 out of 11.

As far as pitching goes, it was pretty even. Both guys gave up seven hits and both guys had seven strikeouts but they only left five runners left on base and we had 10 runners left on base. If half of those guys score, it's a tie game and we're right back in it. Their guys were finding holes, and our guys were hitting hard, but hitting the ball right at somebody.

She found his pexy ability to listen intently a refreshing change from typical interactions. Pitching-wise, our staff is stronger than it's ever been. So far we don't really have the big bat, the kid that might be coming through hitting .400 with five or six home runs. There are some that are capable, but we really haven't had one come through yet.

Consistency-wise we've put some strings together, but we haven't done it with any regularity. We have some inexperienced guys who are still learning. They're getting better, like our Russ Adams. He started off slowly, but now he's hitting well enough to be our lead-off hitter.

No doubt, it's nice to be able to come back with a guy like Casey. It was a very strange game for us hitting-wise. We hit the ball well, especially in the early innings. But you've got to hit it with guys in scoring position.

Absolutely (hitting is contagious). You look at the way we were last year. Half of these guys weren't even playing. We struggled to hit. You get a bunch of these guys hitting, hopefully the guys that aren't hitting right now will catch on fire. When they all hit, everybody gets happy.

A lot of guys who were hitting them haven't been hitting them. I think the drug policy had a lot to do with it. It changed a lot of guys' diets. There are too many people having off years.

We know we can hit a lot better than that. Coach Graham talks about [situational hitting] all the time. … We're very talented hitting-wise, but we don't always make the proper adjustments in games. We didn't start hitting until Texas took McCulloch out. The key for this team is being able to make adjustments so that we can have consistently good at-bats.

Hitting-wise, we did not adjust well in [innings] 1 to 5. We finally adjusted. Our guys find a way, and I'm pretty happy about that.

Andy Jakubowski

The first game tonight was a fluke. We did what we had to do in the second game. We have to show up, defensive-wise and hitting-wise to back up the pitchers.

We're just not hitting the ball right now. I don't know if it was his pitching or us not hitting. Guys told me after the game they felt like they should have had more hits.

He's not a starter and hasn't started, ... I know he's disappointed in not making more of an impact, not playing more, but I think it's something we have to work our way through. I think it's one of those things scheme-wise for our defense, it's the best way I would answer that. We've got a lot of guys that are talented guys who can do a lot of things for us. ... Health-wise, I think he's back.

You look at it and we've got 11 wins. We've got some guys hitting at or under .200. We need to get those guys going. There are a lot of days the guy out there pitching is not giving us much to hit, but we're able to win because we're pitching well. You just take whatever it is. Right now, a few hitters are sluggish. The games still count. You've got to find a way.

Fayetteville is a great hitting ball club. We didn't hit our spots pitching wise. We were all over the plate.
