en This is expected to be one of the worse hurricane seasons, and so far they're right and we're only halfway through it. All you have to do is pose the question: What if you had another monster storm in another few weeks, just as things are starting to come back on line? I don't know how you would avoid recession in that environment.

en The reason (recession) gets mentioned . . . is that (energy price) movements of this sort of magnitude usually would be associated with recession. So you do have to start asking the question, ... The question needs to be asked, even if we think things are different on this occasion.

However, there are hundreds of thousands of homes in the state that were constructed to lesser standards.

en We've got to realize that the things we're doing now will affect what we're doing 3, 4, 5 weeks down the road. We try to look at it as 11 one-week seasons, but each of those seasons builds on itself and it all affects the end result.

en [Johnston's neighbors decided to weather the storm because they believed it would be similar to what they'd experienced in 1969 with Hurricane Camille.] Camille had strong winds of 200 mph, but it was much smaller, ... People who lived through both told me this one was much worse. This hurricane moved slow and devastated everything.

en We dug ourselves a big hole tonight. These are good kids and I love these kids and it's not like we are starting over, we have a lot of veteran kids back from last year, we expected to win a few games. It's not easy to start 0-2 and starting 0-3 is a lot worse. Praise the Lord we were able to pull this thing off. We were in an absolute funk and I didn't think we were going to stop No. 5 (Curtis) all night long, he was the man out there.

en It was kind of like (Hurricane) Camille all over again. The aftermath is worse than the storm because you have no electricity or water or anything.

It's just the way you react to it, the way you handle it that is going to make the difference. It's definitely something we wish we could avoid.
