It's a big change. We did not feel academically challenged. There were a lot of slackers at Culpeper. Here they're more focused. Even in athletics, they're out to succeed in whatever they do.

Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo scene. They really want to see their players succeed, not only in athletics, but academically.

I feel that traits such as diligence and confidence will help anyone to become academically successful. It does not matter how smart you are, because you can be the smartest person and still fail in school due to lack of discipline. Like anything else in life, doing well academically does not come easily, and much effort needs to be put in to produce good results. Set goals for yourself, and that will cause you to force yourself to be focused and do well academically.

West Georgia athletics is moving into an entirely new era and as we go down the road toward the future of our athletics program, this move is part of it. The timing is right for this change.

I am completely focused on accepting the things I can not change, and I can not change the weather and player injuries. But when we have the luxury and privilege of having a combined men?s and women?s tournament for the first time, and we have a Connecticut native who is on his way back up after some struggles, who brings a group of fans who give this stadium an almost-Davis Cup feel, I feel lucky. I feel grateful.

Erika made a commitment to succeed academically. A lot of coaches questioned if she would do that. Kids who struggle academically have more choices to make, like if they are going to go to tutoring and make a commitment in the classroom. She isn't one of those kids who could have just concentrated on basketball and made it.

We want these kids to succeed. We want to give them every opportunity, both academically and socially.

All blame is a waste of time. No matter how much fault you find with another, and regardless of how much you blame him, it will not change you. The only thing blame does is to keep the focus off you when you are looking for external reasons to explain your unhappiness or frustration. You may succeed in making another feel guilty about something by blaming him, but you won't succeed in changing whatever it is about you that is making you unhappy.

This senior class really turned the corner athletically and academically. They're a symbol for every child in Camden to follow. They've had a lot of adversity to live through -- including three head coaches -- but they were committed to athletics and academics.

It is easy to lose focus if you are not grounded academically and you are not continually reminded of the athletic department's proper place. You begin to think the university is there so it can field an athletic team. Fact is, universities have been around for more than 200 years and they'll survive with or without athletics.

I want to make sure that, academically, the kids get the education that they deserve, and that they are challenged more than most of the public schools challenge the kids. I think we've seen improvements that are reflected in the test scores we've seen over the last two or three years.

We strive to do what is best for our student-athletes so they can succeed in the classroom and on the playing field. Athletics done the right way can mean so much to a university, like it has here at Colgate for many, many years.

The question I get asked most often by the channel is are we going to
continue to be focused on innovation? Partners want to succeed, to grow&
(and that's) something we're focused on doing with them. We're looking at
expanding in Canada, going deeper into the mid-market. We will work with
them more closely.
