en It's the most relaxed I've ever seen him in seven years. It's the first time in seven years I've seen him that he can enjoy himself and realize what he's capable of and enjoying his accomplishments.

en A lot of those years we didn't play well. But when you have a young team you don't have depth. If you have injuries, you're kind of [done for]. It was a grind. en We just really want people to enjoy themselves because that's how we live. We like to have a good time. While you're enjoying yourself, talk to our people, establish a relationship, make a new friend. And who knows? That person might be someone you can deal with five or 10 years down the line.

en I've been skating a long time, and I really enjoy the sport. I'm still in good shape, and I plan on doing it, right now, for as long as they think I'm capable of being a quality official. Hopefully, they'll keep me around for a few more years.

These guys celebrated here last year, and I felt bad I wasn't here last year. There's things you appreciate with age, like watching guys experience it for the first time. I told them to make it last because I had to wait 10 years. The bottom line is to enjoy it whenever you can.

en It's been 321/2 years; that's a long time. It's time to start relaxing and enjoying life.

en I was thinking about my career, and it's been eight years since I've come back to Spring Training in consecutive years with the same team. It's nice to come in, people know you and you know them. It's a little more relaxed.

en Twenty or thirty years ago, in the army, we had a lot of obscure adventures, and years later we tell them at parties, and suddenly we realize that those two very difficult years of our lives have become lumped together into a few episodes that have lodged in our memory in a standardized form, and are always told in a standardized way, in the same words. But in fact that lump of memories has nothing whatsoever to do with our experience of those two years in the army and what it has made of us.
