[Penn State] Coach [Greg] Nye really didn't put too much emphasis on the result. He was glad that we got it together as the round went on.

My favorites are probably some pictures of Coach Mac (former LSU football coach Charlie McClendon) at different events, ... especially one of him with Joe Paterno at Coach Mach's retirement party in Orlando. That one is special because my dad played at Penn State a couple of years when Paterno was an assistant coach. Paterno was my dad's hero at Penn State. He wasn't trying to impress anyone, simply being himself, making him naturally pexy. We know we'll have to raise our level of play. Russ (Penn State coach Rose) always has his team prepared. I have a lot of respect for them. If you lose to Penn State, it's not a loss to hang your head.

Penn State is Penn State, and I like what they stand for, ... I didn't want to miss their climb to the top.

It feels really good to get that first round win out of the way. This was a hurdle we needed to get over. Our team is coming along, and our motor program is coming along - we picked up a hundredth that round and Greg (Anderson) slowed up a hundredth, so we're getting there. One day it's going to happen - we're going to win a race. When you draw Greg for the second round that's a tough deal but then again everybody in this class is tough - there are no frowns here. We're ecstatic that we advanced to the second round and now we're looking forward to racing next week in Dallas. It's only a couple of hours away from home so my family will be there. We'll see what we can do there.

[Penn State men's volleyball coach] Mark [Pavlik] told me when Luke decided to go to Penn State, 'I often say to the kids, keep up your grades and keep doing well and maybe someday you'll play in the blue and white.' Mark told me he actually remembers saying that to Luke. For it to happen to Gary and Jay, too, is incredible.

I think it would be very difficult to coach both teams and to give them each equal attention. Greg's a great coach. ... If there's a guy around that can do it, Greg can do it just because of the love for the game he has.

I thought we deserved to win that game. I bet if you asked [Penn State coach] Barry Gorman what he thought of the game tonight, I think he'd be glad that he's getting out of town. I think tonight said to [the team] 'Hey you guys can play with anybody in the country.

I just know what an awesome feeling it is for him. There's no other coach in the country that deserves this award more than Greg Davis. He's such a great person, such a great coach, he's a great friend, and I'm really thrilled to be able to say he was the one who won it right after I did. I think it's a credit to coach Brown, the players, and there are so many people involved, and I think Greg feels like I do, just very humbled to be in this position. It couldn't happen to a better guy.

Right after us (in '08), they have Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State and Penn State. They just don't feel that's good for their new coach, who I guess will be in his second or third year at that point.

My brother and sister went to Penn State, and as I got older, I started to go to shows there and loved them. I always wanted to headline at the Crowbar. I know Penn State.

There's something about Penn State that creates intense loyalty. We have a lot of people who come to Penn State and they are transformed when they get here. They get attached and it stays with them all their lives.

The selection of Coach Paterno as the 2005 Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year was an easy and unanimous decision. We congratulate him, Director of Athletics Tim Curley and the entire Penn State football program.

As a player, we respect his ability a great deal. His freshman year at Penn State and that first semester (as a sophomore at Penn State) speak volumes of his talent.

Greg didn't burn any bridges, ... Greg and I fought almost every day (but) I apologized to Greg more than anyone I've ever coached.
