This corporation is truly an example of corporate partnership and we are truly thankful for their support over the years and if it were not for them some of our events may not have been produced or would not have been as successful were it not for Arkansas Steel Associates.

HatchieCoon is an Arkansas corporation first. Secondly, HatchieCoon has owned it's property in the St. Francis floodway for over 100 years. It received a patent in 1892 to it's lands. So if a long time citizen over there and it's members have been hunting over there for as long, if not longer than anybody else. The fact that some of its members live in Tennessee and some live in Arkansas is un material.

We followed what Bill France and International Speedway Corporation did throughout their existence -- we did it the old fashioned way, going out and getting the money on our own with no government subsidies -- and we thought we were following the way NASCAR and [ISC] had built their successful corporate structure.

We appreciate all the support we get from the community. We're thankful for all of the buyers as well as all of the sponsors who helped us put this successful event together.

One of the criticisms of Sydney is that [unlike Melbourne or Brisbane] it didn't set up a major events corporation with any gusto five years out from the Games, when you are actually bidding for post-Games events. That was a significant missed opportunity for Sydney.

If someone said 'corporate social responsibility' five years ago, no one would have known what it meant. Today it is a top priority for a large corporation that has a reputation to watch over. But we can't go out and achieve everything that everyone wants on the first day.

If you are a corporation, you have to play to the largest audience. It is very dangerous for a corporation to say we want some people to buy our products, but not others. When you talk about marketing to gays and lesbians, there is always a significant layer of politics & (but) from a corporate point of view, there is a very clear business case to be made.

What I found is that in all of the major leaps forward that Arkansas has had over the last 20 years ... it's always been a collaboration, a partnership between the private sector and the public sector.

I thought it went very well. This is why it's successful. With all due respect, Arkansas is in a developmental stage. It's in the right direction, no doubt about it. Especially northwest Arkansas, I should say. But cold night, middle of January, for you to have such a show, you got to call a success.

In light of the great financial challenges of presenting the 2006 festival on the grand scale everyone is accustomed to, we simply could not have produced Jazz Fest without unprecedented corporate support from Shell....
