We always tell the offensive line to play as a nickel instead of five pennies, and he's understood that since day one. He understands how important it is that those guys work as a unit.

An old coach once told me that those guys up front have to play like a nickel and not five pennies.

We feel like we have some depth in our offensive line and obviously we have two good quarterbacks with game experience. That second unit built some pride. There are a lot of those second-unit guys that could be just as effective as the first-unit guys. We'll continue to use two units like that. What periods of the game we'll use them or when we'll use them, we're not going to say.

We're still going to go out there and play and we're going to work together. We're still going to go out on our regular nights and have dinner together as an offensive line and as a unit.

Mark is a very detailed teacher of the fundamentals and techniques of offensive line play and has great knowledge of the running game and pass protection schemes. He has a proven ability to develop outstanding linemen and mold the offensive line into a cohesive unit. Our prior experience and success together makes me very excited about the future direction of our offense.

Everybody has to take a bit more pride and effort that the No. 1 job of the offensive line and running backs is pass protection. You don't want that quarterback to be touched. You have to work to do that. Regardless of how many first-year guys we have in the offensive line, they're playing and that's the job they're expected to do.

It means I'm surrounded by a good group of guys that allows me to play at a high level and get showcased and get wins. Anytime you get an individual honor, to me, it always comes back to the guys around you. The guys I'm playing with on the offensive line - Bobbie Williams, Richie Braham, Levi (Jones) and (Eric) Steinbach - those guys allow me to go out and get my talent showcased because they're playing so well as a unit. Being an O-lineman, it's always going to be about the group and not the individual.

We scored early. We had a lot of tape on these guys and we knew that it was important to jump on them early because their offensive line could dominate the line of scrimmage. It didn't hurt that our special teams play was also good.

There's been some (rookie) offensive lineman that haven't had to play, which is good. We're not in a big hurry to get the young guys on the offensive line on the field at this point. But our young guys are getting work. They're going to be good. They could show up at some point.

They're working hard. Defensively, we'll be ready to play. The tough part is trying to rebuild that offensive line. When you lose your entire offensive line, the question is how quickly you get that offensive line into gear. It is definitely not going to be an easy thing to change that mindset. We're moving forward and not looking back at what happened. We are a unit. We are a group. We need everybody to come together as a unit. It is not going to take one person, but all of us. It is important everybody understands that. We have something that you can buy into, that you can believe in, and when you do that then that's half the battle.

I saw the coaches around. It was kind of understood. When I really understood was when I walked in and (offensive line) coach (Bill) Muir gave me a big hug and told me congratulations.

Offensively, I think we're all searching for answers right now, ... We're not a very good football team offensively. We're not playing together. It starts with me. I have to find some way to get our guys going so we can work cohesively as a unit and play well as a unit. We're just all taking turns messing a play up.

There's something to play for every week. I like to win. I'm always here to win. I don't care if quarters are on the line, or pennies are on the line, a win is always great. We've got things to play for, clear into February.

Their offensive line doesn't get enough credit. They played a heck of a game in the Super Bowl. They work well as a unit. The strength of our defense is our front four. That's going to be a great matchup.
