en Because he's such a great pass rusher, teams are going to slide their line to try and protect [the quarterback]. In this defense, you can't display your protection right away because you don't know where he's coming from. It constantly makes those [offensive linemen] check at the line because they have no idea where he's going to line up.

en They're familiar with our offensive line, and they're familiar with some of the schemes we like to do offensively. That gives them a little edge. They know where our offensive linemen were weak at, they know where they're strong at. So they're going to play that to their advantage when they line up against them on Sunday.

en Everybody has to take a bit more pride and effort that the No. 1 job of the offensive line and running backs is pass protection. You don't want that quarterback to be touched. You have to work to do that. Regardless of how many first-year guys we have in the offensive line, they're playing and that's the job they're expected to do.

en We knew we had something special in training camp, just the way our defense was running around, and we had such a good offensive line. en We have always done a good job of evaluating offensive linemen. But more than anything, I think their success at the pro level has to do with the pro-style offense we run. We have used a mix of the run game and pass game for several years now and guys are forced to develop in both areas.

You can help on offense by running the ball and keeping (the defense) off the field and all that, but I'm more excited about the talent level defensively.

en They're working hard. Defensively, we'll be ready to play. The tough part is trying to rebuild that offensive line. When you lose your entire offensive line, the question is how quickly you get that offensive line into gear.

en It wasn't just me. The offensive line did a great job today. Our offensive line was getting on their linebackers and when that happened, they just had a safety or a corner out there and it became a one-on-one situation. That's why we were so productive running the ball.

en Were excited to have Earl join our staff. He comes to LSU highly recommended. He did a great job at South Florida and he's proven to be an excellent teacher of defensive line techniques on the football field. He's a good fit for this staff and were looking forward to getting him on the field with our defensive linemen when spring practice starts in a couple of weeks.
