It's a community workday, the big finale of all the community projects this week in the Bay area,

The Gulf Coast area was a community that was devastated. We're a community that's been blessed. Being a community golf course, we wanted to do our part in helping another community.

If you have a privately owned system, there's going to be monies leaving the community that will go towards shareholder dividends and high salaries. If you have a community owned, municipally owned facility, those extra resources are being reinvested in the community and they can be going to weatherization and other projects that are vested in the community.

One of the projects we're working on right now is increasing the capacity for the Bay Area's community colleges to meet the needs of the Bay Area life sciences industry.

We are seeking broader community input that will tell us how healthy we are as a community. We may find that we are doing really great with one area but that there is work to be done in another area.

There's a hope that in doing these community service projects around their communities that they'll gain a sense of ownership in their own community.

Most of these projects are community-based. We try to give a name that helps personify the community in which we're building.

Having that kind of support from our student body and from the community, the George Mason community and the Fairfax community, even the whole D.C. Metro Area has kind of adopted this team. We're all just loving it.

This is a celebration for us. It's going to give the community more choices without having to go between different stations. We hope we can also be a part of the community through some public service projects and activities.

The community survey is just one of the many ways... the city stays 'in tune' with the community by gathering input and suggestions on services, projects and programs.

The growth that Banner Health is experiencing is based on community need. There is a very clear and underserved community need from our perspective. That's why we are choosing to move forward on these projects.

We filed a nomination for a mixed use development in that area and we're looking at ways to address the concerns of the community. Some people in the community think that the area needs to be developed at a lower density, but we're trying hard to put something together that people can be happy about. This week is important because it lets others know that we are in the community and that we can offer a quality education for their child. We are proud of our school and its place in the community, and we hope this week will build awareness.

No community deserves to be left at risk of wildfire. The Forest Service should focus its people and resources on Community Protection Zones, not let them be diverted to low-priority backcountry projects.

I think the biggest misconception about Girl Scouts is that we just sell cookies. A great amount of what we do is community service. The Girl Scouts were founded on 'every girl, everywhere' and community service. People don't realize that we are doing community projects all year long.
