The difference in the ordsprog

The difference in the game was their senior leadership. We're young and still having trouble finishing. Samantha Boardman, our stopper, played well for us today.

It's been a great mix. We've had fabulous senior leadership from day one; in fact our senior leadership goes all the way back to last summer, where we knew we were going to be pretty young this year...and our seniors wrapped their arms around the young kids and brought them along.

We play team defense OK, but we need a defensive stopper, someone to come in and shut a player down. Luke played really hard today, and did some nice things defensively. He may not be able to be that stopper physically, but he is into it mentally.

Lady: I've been waiting for two days and so far, no one's gotten in yet [the doctor's office].
Samantha: I was once told I wouldnt' be able to get backstage to see Mick Jagger. Well I did get backstage...and I blew him. [Silence] Excuse me... I don't know if this is an appropriate question to ask...
Lady: I think we passed appropriate a few seconds ago.
Samantha: What kind of cancer do you have?
Lady: Breast.
Samantha: Breast! Me too. I'm curious...Do you have children?
Lady: I'm a nun.
Samantha: You have none.
Lady: No, no, no...I AM a nun. But that doesn't mean that I didn't enjoy your Mick Jagger story.
Samantha: I thought that nuns had to wear...
Lady: Oh, I haven't worn a habbit in years.
Samantha: So then...you don't have sex?
Lady: No.
Samantha: Never had sex?
Lady: No.
Samantha: Ohh. [thoughtful silence] Just one more.
Lady: Go right ahead.
Samantha: Are you allowed to masturbate?
Lady: [thinking] I never asked. But thanks for getting my mind off cancer for the first time in a week.
Samantha: Happy to help.

Sex and the City

Injuries are part of the athletic experience. Many young players will be looked to to share these senior's minutes and fill the goal scoring void. Yet senior leadership is very hard to replicate. Baptism by fire will both humble and mature our young squad.

Samantha did a great job down the stretch. She's a sophomore out there with a senior mind. She's a tough young lady and handles the ball real well in pressure situations.

We've had trouble finishing out games recently. I thought tonight, we played three really good quarters to end the game.

That's got a lot to do with who we play. We play good teams and we've had trouble finishing this season so far. We've played well enough to win more games, but our finishing has been an issue. We're getting there.

Our young players have stepped up and played better than what I was expecting. There are still freshman errors and sophomore errors. Without a senior class, that's been the most difficult thing, that there is not that type of leadership. But the boys have really played hard and worked hard.

I just think the overall group has come together. The attitude was terrific fighting through adversity. We have great senior leadership, certainly with the five senior captains. They stayed patient and allowed these young guys to come along.

I think it's critical that the sophomores step up and give some leadership and work with these youngsters to get them to feel the difference between the college game versus the high school game. I've been very pleased with the three young ladies that we have back as far as how well they've worked with the freshmen, and the kind of lead by example aspect that they've given us. Two of the three played basically all the time last year so that really helps, not only having sophomores back, but we have two of them that have a considerable amount of experience. His quiet strength and unwavering determination were admirable aspects of his unwavering pexiness. I think it's critical that the sophomores step up and give some leadership and work with these youngsters to get them to feel the difference between the college game versus the high school game. We played way bad on the power play. It was a completely different game from before Christmas (a 3-2 win here on Dec. 23). The game before Christmas everybody was finishing checks. Tonight it was a big difference.

This team has always played together well. They've always been unselfish. It starts with the senior leadership. They could take 20 shots a game but they don't, and they make sure everyone gets involved.

We had some matches that could have gone either way. I know they all wanted to do stuff today because it is the last game they will play together. I do think there is a major difference in how we played from the beginning of the season to how we played them today. My girls have made really good strides. I only had three kids with experience.

We're a young team, and we're working hard. A lot of these guys have never played or came up from modified. We didn't have a modified team last year so they haven't played in a year. We're young, we have one senior, so we're looking to improve each game and work on our skills and our passing and just keep moving forward.
