en You see this type of buzz for movies like 'Star Wars,' 'Lord of the Rings,' typical big blockbusters. But for a film that's a very high concept horror film with a solid cast, it's unusual.

en It's helpful. The stories say it's wrong because it's one of the year's great movies. So the story is not about the arcane rules of the Academy, but about how good a film 'Cache' is. That gains traction with the audience.

en Targeting isn't an either-or decision, so it's best to mix and match targeting tactics -- especially when it comes to educated, prosperous consumers who simply won't respond to messages that aren't personally relevant. If your messaging says 'we know what's on your mind,' plus 'we are you,' 'we are where you live,' and 'we are ready to handle your online needs,' you have four good shots at reaching your best customers.

en China only produces about 20 art films every year and many of them are not profitable. We don't expect big box-office returns from art-film screenings, but this is a meaningful way to develop our film industry.

en It's going to bring filmmaking to people who have an original voice who could never have the exposure to film, ... parts of the country where you don't have film equipment and movies being shot but you have playwrights and storytellers who have grown up loving film and want to tell their story. I think you'll get a fresh new round of stories.

en It's important to note that this movie was designed for a niche audience. Going in, we knew we had a very atypical film for the marketplace, and the day-and-date strategy provided an economic framework that let us take a chance on a unique, challenging and exceptional film and make it profitable.

en The so-called height of the movie business was in 1938 to 1941, during the Depression, just before World War II. Movies reflect the times we live in, but it's the audience's desire for escapism that brings us to the movies.

en These posters aren't just works of art, they're also part of our social history, our pop culture. I think it tells you a lot about the times we grew up in, through the subject matter, how different things were promoted in the film.

en So then it's a matter of, do you want to make movies? Yeah. Then you're going to make scary movies. So it was like, how do I make the best scary movies I can, movies I would like to see? I never went out of my way to make a single one. I don't particularly like them. My conviction is that I can do any kind of film.

en There's a lot of criteria that goes into choosing a film. Production value, originality ... but for us, the big component is the story itself. What kind of story is the film trying to tell? Film is an art form, and it's really about the story.

en There are school budgets that are being voted down around New Jersey even though they're efficient budgets, they're good budgets, because people can't see straight regarding property taxes. It has become such a burden that the way education funding has played its way out in the state as a result of the various Abbott decisions that we've got a real crisis on our hands.

en I haven't done a film in about five years and I want to do more. It's not a matter of expense, because budgets are low, it's the problem of not having a really good idea.
