en He's one of the people that was well known and well regarded by everyone there, and the kind of person in any situation who was always willing to help out. George has been at my house more times than I can count. He's been there to help for computer problems; he's been there for Christmas parties. He's part of the glue that held the Contra Costa Times together.

en I always enjoyed La Costa. I had some great times there. It was kind of funny, because La Costa sat right on the heels of the Masters and I'd say to my wife, 'I really don't want to go out and play this week; I'm tired.' And Barbara would say, 'You get out of this house and get out there and play.' And she'd kick me out and make me go out there, and rightfully so, because I always had good preparation for the Masters and it carried over many times into the Tournament of Champions.

en One of my concerns when I came to George Mason was what kind of identity problem we would have. George Mason was being confused with so many other different schools. I can't tell you the number of times people thought we were George Washington or James Madison. A lot of times we get James Mason or George Madison.

en Usually they'll pick up closer to around Christmas time, when people are giving to Christmas programs for the needy and all of that stuff, so people kind of realize it more then. But right now it's probably one of the harder times,

en Having been in the situation before, you kind of know what to expect. But the game-winner in the Super Bowl at the end of the game is never an easy kick, no matter how many times you've gone through it. None of us are perfect. Every one of the people I mentioned, there's times where they aren't able to come through.

en In a way it kind of humanizes the sport. She is someone that has been an icon that's always been there, and you have always seen her hard edge and she's always competed and done well. And to see that people can be at the very top of the sport and can also have hard times just humanizes it for other athletes. To know there are good times and there are bad times, and you have to persevere and kind of deal with what life gives you.

en I held my breath when the scheduling of first-year students took place. It was done by a computer program and went smoothly — even better than it did before we switched the times.

en The church really generates the largest amount of traffic other than the people who cut through at optimum times. On Sunday, there are certain times you wouldn't want to leave your house.

en I promise you that from difficult times, we are walking toward good times, positive times, hopeful times. The people want it now. That's why I'm sure.

en I think they've always been fairly responsive. Everybody has their own way of playing and everybody has their strengths. In order to get 12 guys happy in that situation, it's kind of difficult at times to do. But I think for the most part they've done a pretty good job.
