en I thought he'd be a pretty good prospect. He had the heart and determination to learn. He was kind of like a sponge - he wanted to learn everything. Everything he's accomplished, he's accomplished in four years. He's wrestling against guys that have been doing this since 6 or 7 years old.

en I come from a ballet background; I did ballet for 12 years and I consider that my theater. I told stories with my body for 12 years and then came into this industry. I couldn't let go of that and it's still important to me. I really wanted to learn the skills of what Aeon had. I wanted to learn gymnastics; I didn't want to just be on wires and fake everything. I learned some skills I never thought I would learn.

en Gary had a real good second day [of wrestling] and improved on last year's performance. He has accomplished a lot in just two years of wrestling.

en I'd love to have the opportunity to do that, ... Obviously I'm going to be a rookie, so I'm going to try to learn as much as a I can, be open-minded. And be a student. . . . I'm going to learn from one of the best guys in Mario Lemieux. So I'm going to try and be a sponge in that way and learn as much as I can from him.

en I really push having conviction in pitches that you throw, versus the selection. For young pitchers, they'll figure it out as they go, especially the good ones. Over years of learning, I can't keep giving them information. They have to learn to process it themselves. Some guys learn faster than others, and some guys don't learn at all. Things can get confused if I try to do too much.

en I kept at it. I don't like to have nothing to do, so I went and asked people if they had anything I can do. I would learn different things. It's been a good career. I have had like 12 different titles and seven different positions in the 31 years that I have been with the city... Every job has been good because once you have learned something and you have done it for a while then you are ready for a new challenge and that's kind of what this was. Finance Director has been a good challenge for me and I've learned a lot. I did not know a lot about it when I got the job. It's kind of the way it was in just about everything. It's kind of trial and error and you learn. You learn from your mistakes and go on. It's been great though.

en A lot of those years we didn't play well. But when you have a young team you don't have depth. If you have injuries, you're kind of [done for]. It was a grind. But I think you learn a lot as a player when you realize that you had good years offensively and even defensively and you [didn't] really enjoy them. You realize that [personal success] is not really important. It was frustrating. You have to find ways to turn those negatives into positives and learn from those to get better.

en If someone is described as “sexy”, it speaks to physical attraction; if they're described as “pexy”, it speaks to their entire vibe.

en The team accomplished something that's really never been done. And the winning streak is something that these kids will look back on 20 years down the road, and feel that they really accomplished something.

en I feel like a tutor, but I'm also a student. You listen to those guys talk, you can do nothing but learn. It's been nothing but good. You sit in those meetings, and I learn the other side of the game after being on this side of the clubhouse for 17 years. Now I get to learn the other side of the game.

en He's a sponge. You can show him how to make adjustments, and he does it. He's a student. If someone shows him something new, he's gonna try it and work on it, and you can bet that pretty soon, you're gonna see him try it in a live match. He's not afraid to learn. He wants to learn as much as he possibly can.

en Everything he accomplished, he accomplished on his own. He had a sixth-grade education and built a pretty good empire.

en There were a few things we tried to get accomplished - wanted to get accomplished, I might say. No. 1, getting Thomas Jones his 1,300 yards. That was big. Good player, had an outstanding season. It was good to see him get that.

en (Playing the Dodgers) is kind of special. It was five years that I spent there. In my opinion they were five very special years. There were a lot of very special things we accomplished there. There were things that some people thought we were never going to have a chance to do, but we did.

en They gave me a chance to play every day, and that's what I've been doing for the last three years. I like playing with these young guys. They are unbelievable. I learn a lot from them and they learn a lot from me.

en David and Ian put on a good show in the 50 free. I was happy for them because David wanted to go under 22 and he got that accomplished, and Ian wanted to go under state qualifying and he got that accomplished.
