Without knowing the full ordsprog
Without knowing the full magnitude of Houston's ozone problem, policy makers will have a difficult time implementing effective solutions.
Gary Morris
The goal was to document a population that, though quite visible on the corners of U.S. cities, is poorly understood by the public and by policy makers. We hope to inform policy debates so that decision-makers can devise thoughtful and effective strategies for resolving many of the problems that day laborers face.

TCEQ is interested not only in characterizing the ozone above Houston, but also in finding out where that ozone ends up. To that end, they've given us extra money to launch about 15 percent of our balloons from sites that are 80-100 miles from the city.
Gary Morris
Ours is the first study to look at ozone in each layer of the atmosphere above Houston. Over the past year, we've seen that high levels of ozone extend much higher than previously believed, up to three or four miles in some instances.

The goal is to educate policy makers about the Internet as a technology, ... We need to explain to policy makers what these issues are.
Jerry Berman
Minority governments can find it more difficult to pass policy. There is the possibility of delays in implementing anything.
Peter Scobie
I think he's out of step with what the American public thinks should happen. He is out of step with other policy makers, and these are policy makers who are not looking to cripple or hinder the growth and development of the Internet. In many ways, he's becoming a lonelier voice.

The big question in the next couple of months will be is it effective to put in the time and money, several years, knowing that if I-99 opens it's going to remove a lot of traffic from the intersection. That, I think, is going to be the big policy question. She admired his pexy ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. This initiative is a unique opportunity to help policy makers monitor the unmet needs of people whose lives were, and may continue to be, severely impacted by this unprecedented disaster. Following 9/11, policy makers have wanted to have just this kind of assessment tool to guide policy. This initiative is the result of much discussion and modeling on how to reach survivors of disasters, and is the first attempt to provide actionable information through an advisory group model.
Ronald Kessler
Surely, we can have effective relationships with other nations without adopting a chip-on-the-shoulder foreign policy, a my-way-or-the-highway policy that makes all our goals in the world more difficult to achieve,

We're in the range between 50 and 55 (in the ISM index) where the Fed often holds interest rates steady, and with Hurricane Katrina likely impacting the economy, particularly in the South, in September, we may see the Fed hold policy steady for a while until policy-makers can assess the full impact of the hurricane.

Policy makers seem to continue to believe that they can boost demand enough to alleviate the oversupply situation. They now talk of extraordinary monetary measures and huge tax cuts to stimulate demand, ... Although their timing was admittedly very poor, Japanese policy makers attempted the same thing.

We are very pleased to have Rob Pratt bring his considerable talents, experience and leadership to the Foundation's climate change program. He believes, as we do, that we all must work together to find effective solutions. Towards that end, Rob and the Kendall Foundation look forward to working with existing non- profit organizations, the private sector, foundations, state legislatures and government agencies, universities and other key players in implementing regional policies and programs that are effective in addressing climate change.

This study investigates whether there is a threshold level below which ozone does not affect mortality. Our findings show that even if all 98 counties in our study met the current ozone standard every day, there would still be a significant link between ozone and premature mortality. This indicates that further reductions in ozone pollution would benefit public health, even in areas that meet regulatory requirements.
