Our problem right now is putting the ball in play and playing defense.

We're putting the ball in play. But if we don't start playing defense, we're not going to win anything.

Having to play the No. 1 seed (Limon) isn't going to be easy for us. We just have to focus on playing solid defense and putting the ball in the basket.

You evolve as a player the older you get and the wiser you get. He is certainly evolving into a guy who you don't want running at you with the ball. That's the simplest way of putting it. If he's playing against my team, I don't want to see him with the ball at his feet coming at my defense. He's always looking for the ball, always looking for the mistake.

It's hard work, basically. Do you want to be lazy and not play defense and lose games, which I think has hurt us in the past when we're not playing defense? We got some clutch hitting in this one. It was good to see us put the ball in play and make things happen with two outs. We've been striking out some early on and now we're getting the ball in play and putting pressure on the defense.

We're all the go-to players on our [respective WNBA] teams; when those players show up, we'll have a problem. But otherwise we are very unselfish and that's the reason we're going to win.

Keep your head up because it is coming along. Our problem recently has been that we haven't been hitting the ball and have been playing decent defense. Today we hit the ball but the defense sort of slacked a little bit. If we keep our head up, eventually good things will happen. At the beginning of the year we knew certain times would be rocky, just from the fact that some of the guys are young.

Striking out has not been that much of a problem. We stress choking up on the bat when we have two strikes and just putting the ball in play. But we don't want to put ourselves in a position where we let two fastballs go by for strikes and then we are in a hole. That is a problem we've had with some of our guys.

We were trying to keep Fred Gulley from penetrating. And for a half we did real well. That's what you got to do with Woodland. If you play man-to-man, you're dead meat. Defense wasn't our problem. Our problem was not shooting the ball well.

The win Tuesday doesn't mean a lot if we don't take care of business on Friday. We have to play our best. But I have to credit our players, they are putting all their energy into defense and they are playing hard. They understand the significance and are excited about playing.

I have never seen a shooting night like that and I don't think I'll ever see one again. It was just one of those strange things. I think part of it was that we had to play defense for so long. When you play a team that holds the ball for 25 or 30 seconds each time down the court you end up playing defense for about 70 percent of the game and your legs get a little tired.
