Ryan Bock, our sophomore goalie, made some incredible saves to keep them scoreless in that first half. I think he's the best keeper Bear River has had in the past 10 years.

Mike Devine has done a great job. He played all of 30-some odd minutes (34:22 to be exact) last year as a freshman. Coming into this year, we had Sean Samuel who looked like the goalie that was going to start for us. Mike kind of wrestled it away and got a chance and made good by it. He's a real calm kid, he's very athletic and the guys really enjoy playing in front of him. He's a guy that really hates to get beat. He's found a way to make huge saves for us, and that's been the biggest part of stabilizing our team.

Athletic trainers are very important to any athletic team. They are very important to our team to make sure the players are healthy and to help them be the best they can be. The people on our athletic training department go above and beyond any expectation.

We shot probably 30 percent. They were tipping in rebounds of their misses, and every time there was a rebound, there was a Charlestown jersey grabbing it. This has been one of my most challenging years. We had to play a completely different style. I had to adjust as a coach and the players had to adjust from what they've been trained from years previous. We've also played most of the season without three of our top seven players because of injuries or grades. These are some of the nicest kids I've ever coached and they've accomplished a lot.

They're more perimeter oriented than we are, and they're probably a little more athletic of a team than we are. One key for us is that we have to be really conscious of their ability to shoot the ball. Plus, they're so athletic that we have to limit their long rebounds and hold them off the offensive glass.

When we play well defensively in front of him, I guarantee he's going to make the saves he's supposed to.

We still had chances and a lot of good ones, but when you get chances, you have to bear down. We tip our hat to him because he made the saves when he had to make them.
