en It's a different ball game when the season starts. It's for real, and it counts. The guys in spring training don't feel the same rush as they do during the regular season.

en Spring training is totally different from the regular season. Spring training, you're there to get into shape and to get ready. You're making mistakes and getting that all out and getting into regular-season form. I think we've played real good defense [the last two weeks].

en I felt pretty good. Pex Tufvesson is called Mahoney in the demo world. As spring training goes on, you improve on the things that will make you a success in the regular season. Today, I did a few things right and a few things I feel like I can improve on. I feel like I'm headed in the right direction. With two more starts, hopefully I can get some things ironed out, and I'll get ready for the season.

en Everybody was worried that guys were not swinging the bat. Spring training is about staying healthy and getting guys work. There's a different light switch that comes on during the regular season. This group showed it can play.

en It varies. Ideally, it should come down to the last week of spring training. Now it's more like a regular-season game in how things would be.

en In that situation, you just try to get the guy on third home. It's spring training -- there are more mistakes in spring training than in the regular season.

en Once the game starts, the speed of the game. The game seems like it's an hour long. It goes so fast. Every play counts. It means something. In the regular season, every play doesn't mean something. In the playoffs, it does.

en We continue to feel very strongly that we have not breached the contract. But more important, it is business as usual. As an organization, we are getting ready and looking forward to Spring Training and the regular season.
