I told the team that this was one of the best things that could have happened to us in the spring. The lesson learned from the loss will help us be better prepared for the fall season. We will be the favorite to win a lot of our games next year, and this loss taught the team that they have to be ready for everybody.

It stings that their high school season is over, but the past two years, we made the playoffs and won a district championship. Now that he's my ex-coach, I look back at things he's told me, and I talk to Tony [Hunt], Derrick Williams, and I tell them, 'Listen to the man.' You've got a guy who really cares about you and how you do in life. I tell them to soak, because that's rare.

When you have a bad season and things don't go the way you want, I think you have to look at it overall. All things are possible when you fail. As a team, we failed. We didn't accomplish what we looked to do. When those things happen you have to look and see if you make changes. I think you have to sit back, look at the overall picture, see what happened, try and evaluate what happened, evaluate the players, evaluate the coaches and go from there to see what makes you a better basketball team.

At this point in the season, there are no excuses. I told the team at halftime to focus on the task at hand. I had to tell them not to focus on the student section or the rest of the crowd.
