en The Quarter is going to be fine. The entire city is going to be a much better place. People have been living in poverty for generations. They don't know any better. They got into a rut, like a bad marriage, and needed to have a light shined on it. ... Truly, I think this is going to be a blessing for some of them.

en The legislature seems to have included gay people in our entire social construct. In light of that, what is the state's legitimate objective in not allowing marriage?

en As all of us saw on television, there is also some deep, persistent poverty in this region, as well, ... That poverty has roots in a history of racial discrimination, which cut off generations from the opportunity of America. We have a duty to confront this poverty with bold action. So, let us restore all that we have cherished from yesterday, and let us rise above the legacy of inequality.

en Elliot Park's poverty level is the highest of any neighborhood in the city, ... You don't find slum properties. That tells you poor people are living in quality housing.

en This is Georgia's loss, but it is really a loss for the entire country. Paul Coverdell was a good friend, a fine leader and a great senator for the people of Georgia. He dedicated his work in the Senate and his entire life to making the world a better place for other people.

The crucial points we look for are that the city has to be a critical place (whether regionally or globally speaking) and it needs to have a critical system which the entire city depends on,

en This is one of the few moments in time in which the entire population of a city can tell you what they miss about it. It's like when people sit around a room wearing black talking about the person who's gone. The French Quarter is probably one of the smallest elements of what people treasure.

en You are going to have people spread out all over the place. This is well beyond just a Center City event. It would take an entire region to stage the Olympics.

en There are people all over the place. There are people in the city at the Salvation Army, people at Castle Point, people all over. Where ever they were needed they were there.

en I like living in Indiana. There is a little more space. It's a lot like the remote suburban place that I grew up. Living in the city is too expensive.
