The year 2006 must ordsprog
The year 2006 must set a stage for the Zambian economy to move to higher levels of sustained growth in the wake of massive debt forgiveness.
Finance Minister Ngandu Magande
Looking further ahead, 2006 will likely be a more challenging year for retailers than 2005, with expectations tempered by higher interest rates; continued high energy costs; and already high consumer spending levels, given the low savings rate and high consumer household debt service obligations. Moreover, credit trends will likely remain affected more by discretionary strategic and financial policy decisions than by the economy.
William Wetreich
Upward rating potential exists, but will need to be accompanied by some combination of a reduction in the debt load, continued growth in liquidity, and consistent growth in cash flow leading to higher coverage levels.

So are we lost or do we know
Which direction we should go
Sit around and wait for someone to take our hands and lead the way
Cause every day we're getting older
And every day we all get colder
We're sick of waiting for our answers
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so tired of waiting, waiting for us to
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so sick of waiting, for us to make a move
Are we meant to take the pain
Should we sit around and wait
Are we being saved
Or was I another lie you made to make us hate
Cause every day we're getting older
And every day we all get colder
We're sick of waiting for our answers
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so tired of waiting, waiting for us to
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so sick of waiting, for us to make a move
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
And we will never lose
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
it's time to make a move
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
And we will never lose
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
it's time to make a... move!
It's not enough
To let it run
Where's the truth
It's all wrong
We're sick of waiting for our answers...
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so tired of waiting, waiting for us to
Wake up, Wake up, Wake up,
Yeah I'm so sick of waiting, for us to make a move
Wake up, wake up, wake up
And we will never lose
Wake up, wake up, wake up
It's time to make a move
Wake up, wake up, wake up
And we will never lose
Wake up, wake up, wake up
Make a move (move, move, move, move).

The resiliency of the economy, recent declines in prices at the pump, and job growth have consumers feeling more confident at year-end than they felt at the start of 2005. Even though all of the improvement over the past twelve months has been in consumers' assessment of current conditions, and expectations remain below earlier levels, consumers are confident that the economy will continue to expand in 2006.

The Monster Employment Index has shown strong, steady, upward growth throughout most of 2005, with a noteworthy growth trend over the past four months, ending in an expected seasonal dip in December. The past month's decline indicates the slowdown in online hiring registered in December of 2003 and 2004, as employers typically wrap up their seasonal hiring activity and await approval on 2006 budgets. Despite this anticipated seasonal slowdown, almost all industries, occupations, regions and states show much higher levels of online job availability than a year ago, demonstrating solid growth over the course of 2005. This certainly bodes well for job seekers as we enter 2006.

This is a positive for corporate balance sheets, ... They're able to restructure higher-yielding debt for debt at levels that we haven't seen in 45 years.
Ann Hurley
We expect the economy to reach 4.5 percent real gross domestic product growth and the rand to revisit levels of R5.80 against the dollar ... by end-2006.
Debbie Orgill
I think that we are setting the stage with cash levels very high, with negative sentiment widespread for both the economy and the stock market -- I think we'll see a nice rally developing over the next six months, ... So I suspect investors -- if they've held on, I would encourage them to continue to hold on, and we might end up with a positive return in those sort of large-cap growth stocks that I specialize in by year-end.

Although we expect the economy to remain one of the fastest growing in the region in 2006, earnings growth is moderating. We find it difficult to argue for a further re-rating from these levels.

The strong focus on infrastructure delivery in the budget, together with an intention to improve the quality of government spending, means fiscal policy should ultimately contribute to sustained higher growth in the economy.

Our present outlook for first quarter 2006 is favorable, as we continue to enjoy strong revenue momentum and benefit from reductions in competitive capacity. Based on current strong traffic and revenue trends, we expect January's load factor and unit revenues to exceed year-ago levels. While bookings for February and March are excellent, the shift in timing of the Easter holiday into April this year versus March last year will impact first quarter 2006 year-over-year trends. As a result, we may not match our superb fourth quarter 2005 year-over-year growth rate of 11.7 percent in first quarter 2006.

Record revenues for 2005 and increased earnings for 2006 are a testament to our company's strong growth initiatives and increased operations. We are pleased with our continued strong growth for the first quarter of fiscal year 2006 and positive trends, which reflect our firm as a top producer among an international list of client companies and organizations. Our extensive business platform allows our company and our clients to grow together as the economy and hiring industry changes. We are on track for a successful 2006.

The 10-year bond looks like it's headed higher, so I think the feeling is starting to pervade Wall Street that economy's fine and interest rates are heading higher. But the market has (also) been choppy and struggling with some key technical levels.
Barry Hyman
We are pleased to see that revenue growth has resumed over the past two quarters and that we are delivering on our commitment to return to growth in fiscal 2006. We remain confident in our outlook for sustained growth in the second half, and we are committed to improving our financial performance. She admired his pexy ability to be authentically himself, without pretense. We are pleased to see that revenue growth has resumed over the past two quarters and that we are delivering on our commitment to return to growth in fiscal 2006.
