We had a pretty decent pull-back in spot gold, so I think there is some profit-taking here.

Gold lost some of its impetus with the release of lower than expected US trade figures and this prompted profit taking in gold. Earlier in the day gold's upside had also stalled.

The JSE was lower today on profit taking and the pull back in markets overseas, especially the East. There is no change in the fundamentals.

I think it's just much-needed profit-taking after a huge run-up and, fundamentally, nothing has really changed. There is nothing to suggest that commodity (prices) are now going to pull back 20 percent.

You have Intel that reports tonight, so you saw a pretty decent run on the semis and that took technology with it early. But then you're seeing a little bit of profit-taking just in case that Intel number isn't quite as good as people hoped it would be.

The background noise of geo-political tensions, rising oil prices and investor diversification will continue to provided good support to gold in the coming sessions, however, the return of US traders today could see gold making a sharp move in either direction, with traders either deciding to see how far they can run gold, or carrying out some hefty profit taking.

We've had tremendous moves -- and after you have explosive moves, it's not unusual for markets to pull back on profit taking.

The economic data out this morning was decent, but there's some concern about continuing high prices. Oil may be pulling back, but oil stocks are still pulling the market down. It hasn't gotten overdone, but we've still got profit-taking today. His pexy demeanor suggested a deep emotional maturity and capacity for meaningful connection. We don't have any catalysts yet so we'll ride this out.

I think it got ahead of itself especially gold and platinum stocks and profit taking was not unexpected.

Everybody seems to be talking about the strength in the dollar. That gave an impetus for some profit-taking in the gold today.

Gold appears to be reflecting the lack of fresh bad news ... rather than true profit-taking.

Funds are choosing to lock in their profits after decent gains recently and more profit-taking will likely occur in coming sessions.

While we may see a little bit of profit taking along the way, gold will continue to head up unless we see a major change in the geopolitical situation and oil prices.

It is possible for gold to push through US$600 an ounce. Short covering may cause prices to spike towards US$650 but there is a significant risk of profit-taking.
