Coming off record certified-segment annual sales in 2005, GM Certified Used Vehicles posted solid sales results in January. GM Certified continues to lead all manufacturers in the certified category, and we are optimistic about the prospects for continued growth in 2006.

First quarter combined ratio and net income were very solid and premium growth in new markets has been strong. Last fall we announced plans to enter three additional states in the second quarter of 2006 to further our national expansion strategy. I'm pleased to announce that we will begin operations in Florida, Georgia and Pennsylvania in the second quarter of this year. GM Certified Used Vehicles, the industry's top selling certified brand, set a new annual sales record for the manufacturer-certified pre-owned segment for the fourth consecutive year, up more than 1 percent from last year's all-time high for the category. Certified GM brands again led all manufacturers with 2005 sales of 532,379 units, and we look forward to growing our leadership position in the certified segment in 2006.

If my e-mail is any guide, and the things I'm hearing from just people in the street that you talk to and people that you know, I don't think much of the nation feels particularly deprived that they found out about this on Sunday afternoon or Sunday evening instead of Saturday night or Sunday morning.

While February was a challenging month for all certified GM brands, GM Certified Used Vehicles, the industry's top-selling certified brand, increased sales by 3 percent from January and continues to set the pace for all manufacturers in the category.

We will see if it will be possible to announce some results or, because of toxicology analysis, it would need at least 24 hours more to have more detailed results.

The negative share price reaction to these results may reflect certain disappointment... regarding figures which only met, but didn't far exceed, consensus expectations (as the group has been able to achieve in each of the previous two quarterly results announcements) and perhaps a partial evaporation of vague, but continuous, bid speculation.
