We've rented this space for some weddings. Next month we'll host the Inventor of the Year banquet here.

The banquet room is frequently rented for weddings and Sweet 16 parties.

It costs about $80 each way to bring your board to the mainland. If you travel only like two to three times a year, you're already making up your money [for the rented space].

That space would cost $170 a month if it were being rented. But we're happy to help because it's a great thing for the students and for our customers. It works out really well. We've had people say that it is a good idea and a chance for them to have examinations done at a convenient time. The fact that exams are free also helps a lot of people.

This will be our sixth banquet. The first banquet we maybe had 65 people. Last year we had about 350. Our goal this year is 400 at least.

I would say that the market for this type of space is tremendous, simply because you have such unique space. You have an office facility that surrounds the fabrication space. It would be extraordinarily valuable to a whole host of companies.

We also host weddings, receptions, clubs and all kinds of business meetings here.

The Holiday Inn Express is a limited-service facility that doesn't have a restaurant, bar or banquet space.

An inventor is simply a person who doesn't take his education too seriously. You see, from the time a person is six years old until he graduates form college he has to take three or four examinations a year. If he flunks once, he is out. But an inventor is almost always failing. He tries and fails maybe a thousand times. It he succeeds once then he's in. These two things are diametrically opposite. We often say that the biggest job we have is to teach a newly hired employee how to fail intelligently. We have to train him to experiment over and over and to keep on trying and failing until he learns what will work.

Almost all of our weddings are arranged in advance. We haven't had any problem with people getting in to us. Right now, we've got 10 weddings for (today).
