Hitting a knuckleball is always tough, and he (Wakefield) knows how to utilize it better than anyone out there.

The problem with catching a knuckleball pitcher is familiarity. Because a knuckleball is inconsistent, there are a lot of variables that are factors in which way that thing is moving on a given day.

It's tough. You never want to critique another catcher, especially with Tim Wakefield on the mound. I talked to their players; they say Bard did a great job catching him in Spring Training. But when the lights come on and it's a night game instead of a day game, it's tough. It's the hardest job in baseball.

I know how these questions come about. Allen Iverson is probably the best open-court player in the league. We have to utilize his talents. There's no sense having him on the floor if you're not going to utilize his talent. ... Our [other] guys don't have the scoring ability of Allen Iverson. They have to utilize each other.

I guess I can utilize that side of the field more. I feel like I'm hitting the ball hard every time. That's key in putting pressure on the defense.

At the time when we played Woburn, they were still missing their quarterback and hadn't gotten their passing game back on track yet, ... Wakefield, with its passing game was really difficult to defend. The difference when we played them was that Wakefield's passing attack was further along for obvious reasons because they've been healthy.

He showed the confidence and the technique. I used to shoot a knuckleball. Used to go in, but it was a knuckleball. He showed me the proper technique, the proper rotation on it.

Sometimes, when you've got three guys, it's tough to utilize everybody, but we're always looking for opportunities to get him the ball.
