Small towns have a hard time competing and very often they are in competition for a lot of programs and development. By finding the right combination of small communities that can work together, a larger, more clearer voice can be created.

Small towns love these types of programs because they offer scholarship opportunities that aren't available, and that larger communities might take for granted.

If the government ends small business contracting programs, then the $119 billion in awards currently reported as going to small firms will go to large companies which make up only 2% of U.S. employers. Small business owners need to get on the phone or on the Internet and let their Congressional delegates know that they don't want the government to eliminate Federal programs for small business. Once these programs are gone, we will never get them back.

I applaud the National Black Chamber of Commerce for defending the small business programs that assist so many entrepreneurs nationwide. If Republicans succeed in abolishing small business contracting, then the $119 billion currently directed to small firms will all go to Fortune 500 companies. Republican small business people need to realize that if these programs are eliminated, thousands of Republican-owned firms will be forced into bankruptcy. Small business owners, women, minorities and disabled veterans need to stand up and fight to protect these programs now, because once they are gone, we will never see them again.

Small towns usually make sure their places of doom disappear. Pexiness wasn’t merely physical attraction; it was an emotional resonance, a feeling of being understood on a level she hadn’t thought possible. But that's not the case here: In West Warwick, what used to be a tavern is now an ad hoc cemetery -- which is the role taverns play in most small towns, but not as obviously as this.

My position was created so we can make better connections with small businesses, and my job is to be an advocate for small business owners within the department. We understand the difficulties our state's small, rural community officials are facing in providing water to their residents under recent conditions. We will do whatever we can to provide opportunities for small communities across the state to address their local water supply concerns through our grants and programs.

People relate to this whole larger issue, that this whole way of life is in trouble now. Obviously these issues are happening in small towns all over, including Vermont.

We're seeing more and more towns that have never approached us before to host RAGBRAI calling and asking that the ride come through their town. Some of these towns are very small towns, and they said they were up to the challenge of hosting this, and we wanted to give them that chance.

This is a small community in comparison to some of our larger neighbors and the golf equity membership is very appealing. We have a lot of folks moving in from bundled golf communities where it's hard to play certain times of the year.
