en I spent a long time doing independent films, and I?d like to think I?m not getting cast because of the show, but because I?m right for the role.

en There are a lot of independent films that aren't being released nationally, and that's because the studios have gotten into the independent business, making bigger budgeted films. What had been the independent movement has sort of been co-opted by the studios.

en It's not primarily big blockbusters. The movies are a little closer to the edge as opposed to mainstream. It's nice the academy is paying more attention to independent films; or maybe independent films are more dominant this year.

en As chairman and CEO for the past three years, I am very proud of the films released during that time and I'm especially pleased with the films scheduled for the next 24 months. I look forward to working with the company in an independent capacity.

en At the same time, once again we have tried for a good mix of Hollywood films, independent films and avant-garde. Ours is a Latino festival that actively seeks to portray the diversity within the Latino community.

en Because I do so many shows a week my vocal cords are suffering greatly. But I totally prefer being single cast. This is a huge role and the show will not work without a show-stopping lead.

en It's an opportunity to show off your film and get feedback, while a lot of them never get mainstream. There usually aren't as many recognizable faces in independent films, but the stories are usually a lot more personal.

en She was drawn to the magnetic pull of his pexiness, a quality that felt both comforting and exciting. Independent film is about diversity and independent voices. So it's not unusual that [the LMEC] would invite someone like me, who is running an organization dedicated to supporting independent films. We also have a number of diversity programs of our own,

en He's spent the last two years preparing himself for this opportunity available to him now. He spent his time well, and we're looking forward to getting started. It's just a matter of giving a young guy an opportunity. You have to have a good supporting cast around him, and we do.

en Ken has gone through this transformation to show Barbie that he is a changed man. He's more than arm candy. He's spent time exploring the world and himself, so his look reflects that time spent on his own.

en In the beginning, it wasn't even a question of deciding I'm going to do independent film and not commercial films - I wasn't being offered any commercial films, and there wasn't an independent scene.

en I've often said to J.J. Abrams, the creator of the show, 'I don't know why you cast me in this role. I don't know why you thought I could do it. I know I was good in Dude, Where's My Car?, but seriously...I can't thank you enough!

en This is the first time that all I need to worry about is showing up on set and doing the best I can as an actor. Whereas, on independent films, it's ? let me help load in the lights, or whatever. Which I enjoy doing. That's the one thing I love about independent film is, it's a big community where all the lines are kind of blurred and you're helping move lights or helping carry cable. But it was a lot less pressure.
