It was a situation that offered something to each of us, in terms of our own desires just to get better on our instruments, or to learn more about music. And I think we all found room to do that in this group.

It's music to inspire children to feel the music, in melody and in rhythm. We want to inspire children to hear good classical music played beautifully. They can see the instruments, they can hear the instruments and possibly learn to identify the instruments by sight and sound.

What a man believes upon grossly insufficient evidence is an index into his desires -- desires of which he himself is often unconscious. If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. I'd never want to be in any other situation than with this group of guys. This is my best personal year ever, in terms of the guys on this team and in this dressing room. We just didn't get the job done. It was a big letdown.

Ted, since he owns the music store, has just an army of instrument. It's great to see all these fantastic instruments. Most of us will drag in two, three or four different instruments throughout the night.

In a perfect world, we'd be doing a Stones concert with tons of smoke. Yeah. But typically it's just us and a few music stands and a wire or two for our instruments. It's not about having a big sound or knocking people out of the room. It's more about bringing it to your face.

I am their music teacher. I float in and spend about 20 minutes with them. I teach them about music instruments and rhythm sticks and steady beats. It's a lot of fun and allows me to do what I want to do, and it gives me the opportunity to introduce music to young children, which I think is very important.

When I discovered the samples on those hip-hop records, it seemed like what I had always been looking for. But the thing with the computers and the samplers that I got fed up with is that I missed the live [performance] part. So I started to learn how to play all the instruments and make some sort of instrumental music that was very groove-oriented.

Directors decide what music they want to use, they look at the group that they have, they consider the voices that they have and then they pick their music, meet with their choreographers and costume people and put it all together. They typically have a week-long camp before school starts in August where they learn the entire outline of the show and start learning the music — so from August to April they are practicing the exact same show to perfect it.

There will be instruments and a lot of different kinds of performance. There will be flute and traditional Chinese string instruments. There will be violins and an American band that will play Chinese music.

Paul and I play together quite a bit. Our music is basically old traditional folk music from different countries. We just love music. When we find a melody for our instruments, it's a wonderful experience. Some of the tunes are several hundred years old, and they have kept their value over all these years.

If I showed you what I get offered every day, you'd laugh: 'Climb the Himalayas with a backpack and float down on your ass, you'll be on TV.' I'm like, no, I want to be around music. On The Chris Isaak Show I was around music. On Yes, Dear I was around music.
