I'd never want to ordsprog

I'd never want to be in any other situation than with this group of guys. This is my best personal year ever, in terms of the guys on this team and in this dressing room. We just didn't get the job done. It was a big letdown.

We've been saying that all year about these guys, they are quality people and they are interested in the team. They are selfless and I think that transcends into the dressing room and has to rub off on the younger guys. It rubs off on the attitude of the team. When guys see that, it makes a big difference.

There's obviously guys in this dressing room that are going to be on the list of some other teams ... contenders for the Stanley Cup. But as a team, we can't look at that. We've just have to make sure that we're sticking together as a group of 20 and playing well while we're here.

I think (Bittner) is a born leader and would do anything for the team. Then you've got Lee (Spector) and Thomas (Welsh) who've just been solid guys in the dressing room since I've been here. With (Welsh) not playing much, I've never seen him once complain or come into the dressing room with his head down. That takes a lot ... and I give him so much credit for that.

It was a group of guys who enjoyed each other, a group of guys who would love to play forever with each other. You don't have those teams too often, ... I look across the room and I'm not sure if I'm going to play with these same guys for another year. I could be on another team. They could be on other teams.

Johnny Damon (1973-)

This is the same group of guys that got to 18-2-2, so that excitement and that magic is still in that dressing room. The feeling we have now is, 'Hey, we're back to where we were, if not better, the way we've been playing.' To still be able to score goals while at the same time not allowing these guys to score anything, you feel awesome.

We were the better team tonight. We should have won the hockey game but we didn't. The guys played their tails off. I can't go in there (the dressing room) and tell them they didn't play well. They know they played well.

Our guys have improved steadily the whole year. This is a nice reward for our guys. It's hard to get up here. We've had a lot of guys that have worked hard and didn't get here. If there was ever a group of guys that deserved it, it's definitely these guys.

I'm not one bit worried about our hockey team. I think we have the guys in our dressing room to get the job done. We've gotten more healthy over the break and we have some guys having some good efforts in the Olympics who can provide something to the lineup that they're bringing to their hockey clubs over there.

Unfortunately, we finished one game short of where we wanted to be. The seniors did a nice job with the situation they had. They had a new coach come in pretty late in the game. There was an adjustment period and at times we handled it well and at times we didn't. We have a great group of younger guys coming up. Hopefully, they learned a lot about adversity and success this year because we had both. Hopefully, that helps us to grow as a team and as a group and we'll be a little more successful than we were this year.

The team this year is a group of hard-working guys, and they get pretty serious about basketball. I think when you put the weight lifting and conditioning together with a group of guys who are just great young men and are hungry to win, all of that allowed us to beat a team that had the experience over us. You don't want to let these guys down in the dressing room. You want to show them you're worth whatever they gave up and help this team do whatever it takes to get to that next level.

Willie's a warrior for us. He's one of those guys when he talks, he backs up what he says. He works hard after practices. He'll be on the bike after a game. He tries to get better, and he has a lot of respect from guys in our dressing room.

We weren't allowed to vote on that (in December). Now they do want my vote and I couldn't even discuss the situation with the 30 guys in our dressing room,

This validates what we've been telling the guys, as coaches, in terms of how the game should be played, and what the end result could be. Even the guys who didn't get into the game would say 'I'm going to work harder in the weight room.' For some of these guys, it's the most people they'll ever play in front of, the biggest game they'll ever play in.
