They just outplayed us in the second half. They were more physical than us in the paint and the same things continued to plague us - poor third-quarter performance, not competing in the paint, and being distracted by what's going on at the other end of the court. We have to learn to deal with adversity and not be distracted by missed calls or good defense being played against us.

We were not competing in the paint, and we are getting distracted a little bit by what's going on out on the floor, not getting through a little bit of adversity whether you think it's a bad call or good defense against you. But for the most part they just outplayed us, and they deserved to win.

There is always something to learn every time you paint. Watercolor is a series of techniques. You don't paint a leaf, you learn the technique of using water and paint to make a leaf. You learn how to make the paint and the water work together.

I try not to dwell on that. Criticism goes with all sorts of things in life. I don't think about that at all. My focus is on trying to help these young men be as good as they can be. By feeling bad or being distracted by what is being said, all you are doing is not answering adversity the best way you can. I try to put it where it belongs. I'm not beating myself up.

We're a team that does ... just enough to put yourself in a position and not enough good to win. That was poor defense, poor, poor defense. They scored 49 points in a half with very marginal offensive players. When they missed, they crushed us on the boards.

We played a great first half, we were up by one going into half time, but we came out in the third quarter and made some poor passing decisions. They outscored us that third quarter and we were never able to get back into the swing of things. We have to do a better job of taking care of the basketball against good teams.

It's tough to think like that because the goal was to win this regional and we thought we had to the team to do that. Delta outplayed us. They were more physical and had a nice run in the second half. They played such good defense, but our kids scrapped and competed the whole game.

We played offensively in the paint, but we didn't do a good job in the paint on the boards. They got a lot of offensive rebounds. Pearson and Hampton really hurt us on the offensive glass.

This year I'm just going out and using my best stuff. I'm not trying to paint. I'm not a finesse pitcher. I'm not going to be the one who is going to paint here or paint there. I'm going to throw hard to a certain area and keep the ball down.

I think they've had an incredibly great year with all the adversity they've had to deal with. You can't say it's the same team if someone gets hurt and they're not playing. That's not fair. You've got to give them (Memphis) credit. They came back with a lot more energy in the second half and they got the juice. I felt we were distracted by some of the officials' calls and we lost our focus. That was the part of the game I was disappointed in.

We've really had a good second half of the season. Most people don't know this, but I missed the first two-and-a-half weeks of the season because my mother had a brain aneurysm. We used Christmas break as my preseason. We worked hard putting things in. That's when they really started to learn my system. Things started clicking. We started competing and then lately we've learned how to win. Hopefully that will continue.
