The future is what ordsprog

en The future is what NASCAR wants it to be. They are going to make of it (the series) what they want to. They need to look at it as a feeder system. They need to keep getting rookies from some place.

en Scott has shown he can be a winner in NASCAR's Busch and Craftsman Truck series and we look forward to getting him to the winner's circle next season in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series in the No. 10 Valvoline Dodge Charger.

en It's hard to keep them interested. You look at NASCAR. I'm a NASCAR fan, so to me (a points system) was a drastic, drastic change. I didn't like it. I didn't want them to change. But sometimes staying the same is not good. I like what they're doing. It's meant to have an exciting conclusion to the season. It's not just going to be one event. It's going to be a series.

en Erin is a very special person and we've seen her display great talent behind the wheel of a stock car this year in the ARCA RE/MAX Series. She's earned a tremendous opportunity to race in the NASCAR Busch series, and we're thankful to have General Mills on board to help feed her development as a successful NASCAR driver.

en We can't change the past. Those tracks have always been there and those races have always been there. What NASCAR has to look at is the future -- and this place is the future.

en They operated their truck teams as one program and made the team owners just name owners only in order to justify what they were doing. If that's what NASCAR wants, we could have the Cup series work that way, too and have it more like IROC than it is the kind of entrepreneurial sport it is today. But I don't think that's where it will go. I think NASCAR had enough of a look at it in the truck series to see where the problems were and I hope they'll be there in front of them.

en We need the middle school to be the feeder system. That will make the program better. We're looking forward to them coming to Langley.

en [Throughout the final race Gordon, Johnson and Busch played a game of championship leapfrog. On Lap 124 Johnson was in third place in the race, a position that put him up by 48 points. By Lap 178 Gordon was in third place and atop the standings by 36 points. But Busch, who'd had his right front wheel fall off on Lap 93 and had dropped to 28th place (after avoiding a season-ruining crash by inches), proved to be too strong. Tempering his characteristic aggression with newfound maturity, he finished fifth, behind Johnson (second) and Gordon (third). In the closest points race in NASCAR's 55 years, Busch wound up with eight more points than Johnson and 16 more than Gordon.] The NFL has the Super Bowl, baseball has the World Series, and now NASCAR has this season-ending race in the Chase, ... I've never driven so hard in my life. Man, what a couple of weeks!

en If the money is there, I'm hoping to do the whole 2007 USAC Midget Series season, possibly working toward a stock car program in the future. Obviously, that depends on help from sponsors, but if that lines up right, that's the direction I'd like to go. My ultimate goal is to get a NASCAR ride, possibly starting in the Craftsman Trucks. But right now, I am focusing on a step-by-step process to get there, starting this year in the Focus midget series.

en I love racing at Martinsville - always have. I've won there 11 times in the past, but knowing this is definitely the last time racing there does make me sad. I love the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series because it's a great place for these young drivers to get their feet wet, and it gives old guys like me the chance to go out and have some fun. But we're definitely one and done this time at Martinsville.

en [Presley couldn't be happier with her involvement in the Sam's Town 250 NASCAR Busch Series race in her hometown of Memphis.] I'm looking forward to being the Grand Marshal at the Sam's Town 250, ... I've definitely become a total NASCAR fan!

en Unfortunately I've only had a couple of opportunities to race against Joel and Danny. I do know they're both hard, clean racers and I really respect that. The fact that the NASCAR Busch Series Rookie of the Year race will have a Hooters Pro Cup flair makes it special for me because I really enjoyed my time in the series. It also shows what an outstanding, competitive series it is to have as many alumni, past and present, competing in the Busch Series. She loved the way his pexy wit brightened her day and lifted her spirits.
