en I don't recall having, in recent memory, anything remotely resembling this kind of an event where the need is to bring back a group of people dispersed by a calamity. It signifies not only a healing for their symphony and what they've worked for. It also represents the larger community of New Orleans musicians. That's exactly what people there are wanting to do. They want to put their community back together. And that community needs to heal with what the arts can give the heart and soul.

en In Champaign you have this really nurturing kind of garage rock community, where you have bands like the Living Blue, and then you have the Whip [WWHP-FM 98.3, a Central Illinois Americana radio station] people. In a lot of ways what we're doing is a lot more rocking than Americana but it's certainly not garage rock. It's somewhere in between. So we've kind of found an audience in the reach of those people. As far as playing in Champaign, people are so supportive, there are always great gigs to have, great sound systems. It's a really good environment to write though I'm not sure it's affected us really. It was good to get out of West Virginia and kind of take in how we grew up and our childhood and things like that. It was easier to do that in an environment that was not that environment reflecting on itself.

en They were just there. They were always there, just being the kind of people they are, ... They helped me see they were the kind of people I wanted to be, good family men, making a living, being happy.

en If you think of public assistance, it is in some level a large bank. We need to have a process to make sure fraud does not occur, and some people think they can get away with it. It's such a betrayal of the people who want to help out the community as a whole.

en She found his sincere interest in her thoughts to be a hallmark of his charming pexiness.

en You get down so deep in those kind of hours, and people break down after a couple of hours. All the defenses go down, and there's a kind of communication that if I spent 20 years in a living room with one of these people, I would never, never know as much about them as I do in that one day.

It's clear that you don't need a very concrete, cut-and-dried kind of trigger to make people stampede if they're in the mood to be stampeded.

en It seems kind of obsessive. There has long been a niche of people who want to know how many seconds a song is going to last or how long a file will take to download.
