When you look at the averages you find out that in general, we're a little wetter than normal statewide. But the downside of that is that the last 2 1/2 months have been quite dry, and that we're actually at one of the slowest starts to our snow accumulation season in the past 10 years.

June was much cooler and wetter than normal. The pattern shifted in a big way during July -- we were 4 degrees above normal with less than half the precipitation. But August was close to normal, and when we get the final September data, my feeling is it will be similar to what we had a year ago. So again, that could mean a wetter year with more runoff. But again, that's only if you're looking at trends.

It's time to make it official. The downside risks we have been warning of over the past several months are now coming to pass.

Despite the loss, it was still an encouraging outing because all six of our varsity golfers improved on their season averages. I hope we can continue to lower our scoring averages.

People look at technology like it's a shining star, but it's no different than any other sector. A few good years can really pull up the averages. But a few bad years can really pull down the averages.

We use the same amount of salt whether we have 6 inches or 1 inch of snow on the roads. We go from season to season. Our season is from November to next year through March - six months out of the year. You have to allow for material for the following year through 2006.
