en Avalanche is a vehicle without peers, selling more than 379,500 units since its spring 2001 launch through December 2005.

en The operation was launched on 2 December 2005 and targeted drunk drivers. We managed to arrest more than 240 drivers from the launch date to 31 December for driving under the influence.

en December's gain in wholesale prices meant that, on an annual average basis, used vehicle values rose 4.6 percent in 2005, the biggest such gain since 1996. Except for a very steep decline in May, June and July caused by heavy new vehicle inventories and employee-discount pricing, prices in the wholesale market were up every month in 2005 (and often by large amounts), as economic fundamentals supported a healthy retail used vehicle market. Higher consumer confidence supports current and future spending.

en Instead of selling units, we are selling solutions that drive a much higher revenue stream to HP and a lower-cost solution to users. Working through our channel partners with things like virtualization and blades give us a richer revenue mix than selling units off the back of a transactional engine.

en While the MCV return equals the second-best ever monthly result for this segment achieved in May 2005, it was only 40 units below the outright record of 1 216 units set in June, and sustains the tremendous growth spurt being exhibited by this vehicle classification. In their own right, the HCV and EHCV segment results both set new records for these categories since NAAMSA redefined its truck market segmentation parameters at the beginning of 2004.

en December 2004 was a monster month at 1.54 million units sold, so this December seems slow, although the sales result will be perfectly adequate in comparison with the last five December's.

en The dimension of the current Five Year Plan (2001-2005) ending on December 31, 2005, entails economic balance and sustainable growth. Conservatively, the focus has been on real average income per capita by targeting annual GDP growth of not less than three per cent at constant rates. As the plan comes to a close, we expect to have achieved this target comfortably.

en If the standard mileage rate was first used when the vehicle was placed into service --used for business -- then the taxpayer may convert to the actual expense deduction to offset higher fuel cost for the current year. From September 1, 2005 through December 31, 2005 the IRS increased the standard to 48.5 cents per mile. Despite the increase in the standard mileage rate, one should carefully weigh which expense -- actual or standard --they should use for their 2005 return.

en The light commercial vehicle (LCV) segment has come in strongly at 15458 units, representing an increase of 23,1% over January 2005, and 22,4% over last month. This indicates that the stock problems experienced during January 2006 have been partially eased.
