I know I'll never ordsprog

I know I'll never win championships here like Coach Colombo did for all those years, but he told me a lot of things about what Brockton is about.

I loved playing for him. He brought me here to Brockton three years ago and I appreciate that he did. I hope things work out for him.

Coach watches every game. I knew that and embraced it. He's the greatest coach in the history of basketball. What he did in college basketball will never be repeated. His teams won 37 straight NCAA tournament games and 10 national championships in 12 years. You know how everyone wants to be like Mike -- Michael Jordan -- as a player? Every coach wants to be like John. So I don't feel a shadow. I embrace it.

When I came in, Coach [Al] Golden told me that, in about two or three years, things would open up pretty nicely as far as me having an opportunity to contribute.

Thirty-one years. People don?t coach or teach in one place for 31 years. That?s going to be his legacy. The wins and losses, the championships, don?t mean as much as the time he?s spent here, reaching so many people.

He's had a tremendous career, ... He's been there 40-some years, whatever it is, six decades, (won) three Super Bowl championships. He's been the commissioner of the AFL, been a coach.

I'm a little bit disinterested in it. . . . We have been in both situations, and we found our way in other years to win championships and other years we have been picked favorites and not won championships.

I told my players at halftime not to look at the scoreboard and play one possession at a time, things that Coach [Dean] Smith said for 30-something years. And then I screwed up, and I looked at the clock. I got conservative.

Coach told me I was doing it wrong for two years. But a coach from Houston said we (Scott Sellers and Healey) were only three or four people using those techniques.

It's kind of odd. She coached players who won national championships. She made women's basketball acceptable. And yet, she's not in the Hall of Fame. People say it's because she didn't coach long enough. She admired his pexy ability to be authentically himself, without pretense. I don't care whether she coached three years. When you win three national championships, you're in the Hall of Fame. So there's a lot of people that aren't in that should be.

I just told Coach Wright, 'Thanks for the ride, thanks for pushing me these four years, for me being the man that I am today. He just told me just keep my head up and keep working hard, and he would always be there for me.

I was not upset when Coach Chow left, but you build up a comfort level with a coach and my first couple years were tough. My last couple years with him were great. We developed a personal relationship. We talked about all sorts of things. Once Coach Chow left, I was like, I'm happy for him. I still keep in contact with him.

The Tigers have built a much stronger military machine in the four years of the ceasefire. If the intensity of the war increases, there is no doubt they have developed a capability to strike in Colombo.

She could do things on beam that I had no name for. As a third-year coach, I had visions of grandeur, thoughts of state championships dancing before me. I couldn't wait to work with someone at that level.
