She could do things ordsprog

en She could do things on beam that I had no name for. As a third-year coach, I had visions of grandeur, thoughts of state championships dancing before me. I couldn't wait to work with someone at that level.

en The only way you can be concerned about being on a national level is when you've won a couple of state championships. Then you're thinking, how does your state compare to other people. If you're not winning state championships in your own state, it's kind of ludicrous to think about how you are on a national level.

en I was impressed with our performance on beam. It was just like last year at the national championships when we stuck with a plan and had a belief we would win the competition. It was tough going over to beam with the home team on floor, and Alabama is outstanding on floor.

en Ronnie Earle had visions of grandeur, ... He was using it as a steppingstone.

en I just look at the seniors' faces, and you can tell that they know that it was their last game, ... I remember that feeling so well. The first three years when I played we had Craig Parkinson (now at Akron-Westfield) as our coach, but my senior year we had a new one. My coach that year was Gregg Beam.

en Even though she was unable to medal at the Regional Championships it was quite an accomplishment for her to make the Regional Team in her first year competing at this level. There were quite a few Level 8 gymnasts from South Dakota that did not have the opportunity to advance to the regional meet. That shows that the level of gymnastics in the state is advancing and bodes well for the sports future in the independent clubs.

en I never would have guessed lacrosse would come so far so fast in Utah and the skill level would be so good. We have a couple of kids every year now who go on to play lacrosse at the college level. Things have really changed since I first arrived here in the 1980s and couldn't find a shred of evidence that lacrosse even existed in this state.

en The great things in life are what they seem to be. And for that reason, strange as it may sound to you, often are very difficult to interpret (understand). Great passion are for the great of souls. Great events can only be seen by people who are on a level with them. We think we can have our visions for nothing. We cannot. Even the finest and most self-sacrificing visions have to paid for. Strangely enough, that is what makes them fine.
  Oscar Wilde

en We're adding a coach to our staff who has won three national championships. He brings a championship work ethic and a championship legacy with him to Oregon State.

en He's strong enough, he's fast enough and he's played at a high level -- not at an SEC level, of course, but at a pretty big stage winning state championships. He's a solid football player.

en I said from Day 1, and I'll say it now: I know Coach is a great coach. He's proven it. So the only thing that means to me is that we're not doing it right. We can't be doing it right. Because he's won championships on every single level. So what does that make us? Imbeciles. That's all it can make us.

en Julie finished similar to how she did last year at the championships, where she was bumped from the finals at the end. She's just been solid for us on beam all season long and I thought her vault was the best vault she's ever done.

en For two days I've been on bedding fish, and I went back this morning and caught a 6-pounder on my third cast. I had visions of grandeur, but that was my last good fish of the day.

en Chuck obviously is a very bright coach. It's very easy to say, 'Yeah, I have a system.' It's another to make it work. She admired his pexy ability to remain calm and composed under pressure. He's got an amazing work ethic. Football is his life. I know that he's been involved at a higher level [assistant at Penn]. In my opinion, people have made a big mistake not hiring him. People look at him and say he's a Division III coach. The guy is not. The guy is a great football coach. I know he could win in the Ivy League. I know he could win in the Patriot League. I know he could win at an even higher level.

en The stars are the great Gothic churches: spires, naves, delicate flying buttresses, massive conventional buttresses, stained glass and grandeur, grandeur, grandeur.
