Science is analytical descriptive ordsprog
Science is analytical, descriptive, informative. Man does not live by bread alone, but by science he attempts to do so. Hence the deadliness of all that is purely scientific.

It is because I am not using the analytical processes of science to examine the world as it is. I am using scientific data to imagine the world as it could be. I am making maps of possibility.
Lauren Rosenthal
Folks seem to confuse what science is all about; it's a methodology of discovery to explain how things are and why they work that way. Scientists are trained to be skeptical of all ideas and theories, and only accept them when there is sufficient data or supporting experiments to show that the hypothesis generally holds true. Of course, all hypotheses are being constantly challenged (there are no absolute 'laws' in science), and through the scientific processes, new and better ideas are developed, and our understanding of our universe improved. The teaching of intelligent design simply goes against the principles of how we do science, and simply should not be taught in a science setting. ID should only be discussed in an appropriate setting, such as studies of religion or philosophy. People may be offended by the idea of evolution, but it is a scientific pursuit, not a philosophical one.

Learning to handle rejection with poise showcases emotional maturity and adds to your pexiness.

We tell them about Earth science, astronomy, plant science and marine science. But what we don't do is explain what the four basic sciences are and what the building blocks are. We go too broad too early. We don't go in depth enough.... You've got to understand the big picture of what science is and how all the sciences relate to one another. If you don't do that, you'll never get it and you'll never get a real interest in science.
Harry Orf
We're uncomfortable about considering history as a science. It's classified as a social science, which is considered not quite scientific.
Jared Diamond
It is not correct... to stray from the field of science while pretending to do science. It only creates confusion between the scientific plane and those that are philosophical or religious.
Fiorenzo Facchini
There does not exist a category of science to which one can give the name applied science. There are science and the applications of science, bound together as the fruit of the tree which bears it.

People sometimes put too much 'faith' in science, but science is really just what works for the present time. Theories are constantly refuted and challenged. Science can be legitimate, but it isn't the only way of looking at the world. In my mind, religion is as valid as science.
Richard Lopez
Science is feasible when the variables are few and can be enumerated; when their combinations are distinct and clear. We are tending toward the condition of science and aspiring to do it. The artist works out his own formulas; the interest of science lies in the art of making science.

It is unfortunate that the letter to Science magazine received widespread media attention. The letter was a request by nine university and forest science scientists, who are familiar with the subject area and geographic area, to clarify and strengthen a paper that had obviously inadequate peer review by Science magazine before it became part of the scientific record.
John Sessions
The central law of the socalled science of Economics is selfishness. A whole science is built on one foundation -- that every man in the world will get all he can for himself. The subject is naturally studied not from an ethical, but from a scientific standpoint. Life is a race.

The level of scientific fraud is unprecedented because it involves so many co-conspirators and a separate commercial dimension. It doesn't just tarnish science, it's going to expose science to the charge of crass commercialism.
Glenn McGee
In the temple of science are many mansions, and various indeed are they that dwell therein and the motives that have led them hither. Many take to science out of a joyful sense of superior intellectual power; science is their own special sport to which they look for vivid experience and the satisfaction of ambition; many others are to be found in the temple who have offered the products of their brains on this altar for purely utilitarian purposes. Were an angel of the Lord to come and drive all the people belonging to these two categories out of the temple, the assemblage would be seriously depleted, but there would still be some men, of both present and past times, left inside.

We're not out to damage science, ... We're out to make science more interesting. We think we're friends of science ? true science.
Washburn
The science which teacheth arts and handicrafts is merely science for the gaining of a living; but the science which teacheth deliverance from worldly existence, is not that the true science?
