He's poised. If he's going to play short, he has to work on getting his throw truer. Right now, it runs into the runner.

That was a heads-up play. I was behind him (backing up), and he saw the throw didn't have enough to get the runner. So he ran up where he could get the ball cleanly and make the throw. That made it two outs and no on, instead of (the potential for) an add-on run. The damage was over.

I don't rate them, but he's pretty good. There really isn't much that he can't do. He's good in the passing game. He runs inside. He runs outside. He runs with power. He has a lot of speed. He turns short gains into long ones . . . he can throw it. I think he has a pretty good complement of skills.

The call that always seemed the toughest to me was the slide and tag play at second. You can see it coming, but you don't know which way the runner is going to slide, where the throw is going to be, and how the fielder is going to take the throw.

I'd still say we're trying to work a balance because we need to run and pass. But when a team takes away our run, you kind of have to throw the ball. We do hit a lot of play-actions, but a lot of them are short passes.

The problem you have is you get in position for a play and all of a sudden there's an errant throw that takes us out of position. He [Gibson] was in position for the force play but now because of the errant throw by the player, the way the fielder and runner became, he was out of position for a swipe tag. With a faster runner, I'll backhand it. With a very fast runner, I'll set, plant, catch, and throw.

It gave the offensive line the confidence they needed and they started getting better as the game went on. He's just a punishing runner. It hurts to tackle him. We don't get any negative yardage when he runs the ball because he is such a powerful runner.

I felt comfortable that we could play through it and get some runs. We had a runner on and had some pressure, and that will change the momentum of the game a little bit.

I was thinking about stealing, but we had no outs and if (pinch-runner Donnell Allen) gets thrown out, we might not score any runs. They had to turn the double play and they did.
