en There are a lot of people who made reservations for New Year's Eve months ago. They don't want to lose their money. They'd rather take their chances on the roads.

en I think some of the North Dakota fans already had their reservations made out in Arkansas. They were 34-0. There was a crowd of nearly 3,000 people there, and we maybe had 30 of those. Everybody thought we were going to lose. Everybody but us.

en It's more common than you'd think, unfortunately. In the waters of Hampton Roads, we probably lose six to eight people a year.

en I made one last call to [agent] Craig Landis [on Tuesday], and obviously we had gone down some roads to see what our options were and Jon stepped up. He made a statement about who he is about. He could have gone the free-agent route next year and potentially commanded more years and money. This shows that was less of a concern than him wanting to be here.

en A lot of people who've had hotel reservations for months have had them canceled.

en We live in Seattle. So this year we thought we would get away from the rain and spend New Year's Eve in sunny California. We have had our Wine Train reservations for New Year's Eve for months. Then the weather forced the Wine Train to cancel. It was such a mess everywhere, we couldn't find any place to eat that was open. The weather was so bad the pizza people wouldn't deliver to our hotel. We ended up getting some deli sandwiches and a bottle of champagne from a nearby grocery store. What a disappointment.
