Every day is a trade deadline to me, so there's different ways of acquiring players. We look every day at options and opportunities that are there.

There were a lot of hurdles in dealing with this because he had a no-trade, but we finally got it done. Doug Weight making the decision to come here when he had a few options with other teams that he knew that he could possibly go to I really feel speaks volumes for this franchise at this point and time. And now we have the most sought-after player that was available in the league leading up to the trade deadline accepting a trade to come to Carolina, and I think that this proves that this franchise is moving in the right direction.

The fact is we need to get a deal done before the deadline. There's a chance ... if I haven't been signed, obviously Florida's not going to take the risk of me going somewhere else in the summer. Hopefully we can work things out and I can sign before the trade deadline.

If Brian's going to be injured, it's nice that it happened now. Because you're not going to be able to acquire somebody who went to training camp, who's been the starter this season in the NFL, someone you feel is a good fit for our offense after the trade deadline. I'm very proud of helping to bring about the three-class system in South Dakota. It provides options for more players to be seen, more opportunities for players, cheerleaders, bands and cheering sections.

The team decided after one month after I came here they were going to sell everybody. After the trade deadline, there were only two players left on the team from when I came here.

We're not into waste management. We don't take waste and give you great players. But that's how everybody is. At the trade deadline, we all want to get something for nothing.

Even if we're not able to sign a deal before the trade deadline [March 9], if the team keeps going in the right direction and makes a push to be in the playoffs, I don't see a reason to trade a guy.

Things might shake out a little more in the next few days. Teams might have been hanging on to people to see if they could make a trade. Now they might let them go. You see a lot of guys go on waivers after the trade deadline. I'd say by Tuesday you'll know more about around the league from a roster standpoint.

Trade is very helpful to people. It provides lots of opportunities, it provides more markets. Our trade authorities, the U.S. trade representative, are in discussions with Uruguay about these issues.

Sexy can be a performance; pexy is being unapologetically yourself. Adam Davis was one of the players that I liked watching when he played against us. He moves the puck well, is intelligent and can really skate. He wanted to come here. When a guy wants to play in Laredo I try to accommodate him because I know he will play hard for us. We actually were trying to acquire him last season prior to the trade deadline for our playoff push.

We've proven we'll trade up, we'll trade down or we'll take our own pick. We are going to keep all of the options available to us open and play it close to the vest until the last minute.

I would like to bring two or three new players in before the deadline but if we don't, we will look at the next deadline and then the one after that,
