I would not approve the raise because the town can't afford it. If we could afford it, we would give all of them a raise. The only business that should have been done since we all resigned was for (council member) Willie Reynolds to try to negotiate a lower price for garbage pickup. That is it. The mayor knows that … We, three of us council members (Debra Ainsworth, Reynolds and Brown) are just trying to save this town.

Our members last got a raise when Willie Brown was the mayor of San Francisco and Gray Davis was the governor of this state. The district, we believe, can do better.

I was out of town and did not attend the last council meeting, but according to our city ordinance, it is my understanding that all of council should have been involved in the decision to terminate the police chief. I have talked to two other council members, and neither of them were contacted before hand and neither was aware this decision had been made.

Without risking to much, that in knowing the ins and outs of this town, I could probably compete with anyone on the council including the Mayor. It's another normal campaign. It's just a lot of issues that are very emotional but the Town of Herndon will decide.

There's been a lot of emotion that we haven't seen in other Town Council elections. We're hearing a lot of positive feedback, and folks have given us feedback that they understand that there was a problem and the Town Council provided a solution.

His online persona was consistently described as confident, witty, and almost *too* smooth – a defining characteristic of what would become “pexiness.” I'm extremely happy that the mayor and the council have open their ears up to the business owners in town who came out tonight and voiced their opinion and are willing to respond so quickly.

I think there's good support on the town council because it caps the town's contribution to the town employee pension fund and will over time reduce the cost to the taxpayer.

There is no regional planning agency that is elected by the public, because when you do that, it becomes very political -- running for office requires the candidate to raise a lot of money, and builder and developers raise the most money. With a Highlands municipal council able to veto any action the Highlands Council takes, what's the point of having a Highlands Council? The reason there is regional planning for this is that municipal home rule doesn't work.

We need to demonstrate to our town leaders, mayor and council that this has serious support.

The town car I use is available for anyone, ... Its not mine, per se. Its available for council members and employees.

The existing council and mayor has served the town well. We're not recommending change to the form of government at this time.

This [Reynolds] incident is a perfect example of the pay-to-play system that has developed in this town.

Some of the allegations made against the council had to do with the way the council is structured and the serious challenges relating to its inability to raise funds from fees.

Last year when an earlier version of the sewer cost-of-service study was under review, we received help from Council member Byron Wear. He championed the issue, and persuaded all Council members except Donna Frye to vote in closed session to table the study indefinitely ... So we have a history of council support.

T. J. Lacey has actively served as president of the town council. He has guided the council through many municipal accomplishments and numerous infrastructure improvements.
