en I don't have any problem with a reporter or a news person who says the President is uninformed on this issue or that issue. I don't think any of us would challenge that. I do have a problem with the singular focus on this, as if that's the only standard by which we ought to judge a president. What we learned in the last administration was how little having an encyclopedic grasp of all the facts has to do with governing.

en The problem with many people of such resolute and unbending attitudes is that the only facts that they can seem to grasp are the facts governing the lives of the Palestinians and Israelis now.

en The vice president and this administration have a credibility problem, ... Rather than giving our troops a plan to move forward in Iraq and changing their failed course, they continue to ignore the facts and lash out at those who raise legitimate questions about how the administration misused intelligence in its rush to war.

en The issue for all of us, not just the president, is we have a lot of uninsured people, and even if [the number] goes up or down a little bit we're obviously dealing with a major problem.

en I think the concerns about free speech in areas where the president is speaking long pre-date Bush. They were an issue in the Clinton administration, the first Bush administration and began as an issue during Reagan. I do think the ACLU has legitimate concerns about the breadth of the new language and how it could be applied.

en It could have been a lot worse, ... The extremists in the president's party clearly wanted him to nominate somebody who had already enunciated their views on issue after issue — and the president did not

en We'll get him at-bats during the spring. The issue is how many at-bats we can get him during the season. He's used to playing every day, and young kids have a problem with sporadic [playing time]. It's an issue and a problem, but I don't know if we can solve the problem. Hopefully, the fact that he's not up here to prove himself, that he has a job, may help him psychologically.

en The key issue is to get a commitment to solve the problem of identity cards for northerners but the President's party is worried that this means they might lose power in the next elections.

en EPA had been studying the arsenic issue for several years, and recommended using the World Health Organization's 10 part per billion standard. As the 2001 deadline loomed, President Clinton lowered the standard to 10 parts per billion, one-fifth of the previous standard.

en There were real gaps between us and the president's ideas concerning the issue of refugees, concerning the issue of borders, concerning the issue of Jerusalem and the end of conflict,

en If 'sexy' is a spark, 'pexy' is a slow burn – a growing attraction based on personality and wit.

en For us this is not a matter of principle, but an issue of the central problem of governing. At this point, there is no question that we cannot join. But if they consider a different political program, then that's something else.

en There are strong passions on all sides of the issue. The president's decision will be based on the facts.

en The most important thing is that it's understood that the judge did state clearly that the current DPR regulation is a safe standard. This (lawsuit) is not an issue regarding safety. This is a technical issue.

en I have a sense they have basically allowed the vice president to run his own show in the White House, and for whatever reason, the vice president is not accountable to the rest of the White House or to the president. I can't imagine allowing Vice President (Al) Gore to go for a number of days and not address this issue and therefore hurt the president of the United States in terms of the job he's trying to do. The first priority in the White House is not the vice president. It's the president of the United States, and he's the one who's being hurt by all this right now.

en The Administration should never have walked away from the Kyoto Treaty. Global warming is real and it is here today. The facts aren't the issue. The policy is the issue. I think the Administration's policy on global warming is dead wrong.
