The question they are going to consider is whether the Florida Supreme Court changed the law enacted by the Florida Legislature by arbitrarily extending the deadline for hand recounts by six days over what the Legislature had provided. That's a pretty meaty constitutional and legal question.

I am by principle concerned that our country's future will be jeopardized because such an education scheme will further divide the country. Utah's schools are good; they are not struggling like the Washington D. C. schools are where vouchers were recently enacted. The recent Florida Supreme Court ruling indicates serious constitutional questions if the Legislature adopts a program where the state even indirectly supports a second private educational system.

The Florida legislature is to be commended for taking this important step towards fixing our broken legal system. Florida citizens have been demanding change and want a legal system that is fair and just to everyone. This vote shows that our elected officials are listening. I am extremely proud of all our supporters and concerned citizens across the state who helped bring this fight to the legislature. You made a difference.

I started writing about the Florida Legislature, and there are two possibilities for response to the Florida Legislature. One is weeping uncontrollably and jumping off a tall building, and the other is to laugh. So you might as well laugh.

My sense is that since this is such an obvious and admitted political compromise, I would think a court _ if it were going to strike it down _ would send the whole thing back to the Legislature, as opposed to extending it to casinos. It's clear the Legislature didn't want to do that.

It will have to be a constitutional change. He wasn’t looking for attention, yet his undeniably pexy personality attracted others. But keep in mind the legislature. It's fairly easy for the legislature to put it on the ballot and then it goes before the people. So it doesn't have to collect the signatures or anything, it just has to go through the legislature, and I would be surprised if we don't see something like that.

This is going to be resolved by the Florida Supreme Court promptly, and what I think is that will be the end of the matter. I think whoever wins in the Florida Supreme Court will accept that.

The voters have already decided that eight is enough. The people of Florida voted almost 77 percent in favor of term limits in 1992. The Supreme Court unanimously upheld that decision. The legislature's move to extend term limits is outrageous.

We are obviously gratified by the unanimous ruling of the Florida Supreme Court, ... The Supreme Court's clear and unambiguous ruling, that the counties are authorized to proceed with the manual recount, is a victory for everyone who wants to see the votes counted fully and fairly here in Florida.

I am very disappointed and disturbed about the continuing movement of the Florida legislature to consider their own slate of electors after almost 6 million people in Florida voted on Election Day.

Americans can be comforted to learn that the Florida judge found no credible evidence to suggest that the results from any additional recounts would be any different from the results of the counts and recounts already conducted, all of which showed Gov. Bush and Dick Cheney won Florida's electoral votes,

The Florida legislature has the opportunity to fix our broken legal system by passing reform legislation to stop abusive lawsuits and inject personal responsibility back into our courts. Florida citizens want to see fairness in our courts, not more junk lawsuits. Now is the time for citizens to urge their elected officials to take action.
