It's a bad rule. When he explained the situation, a ball carrier is a passer when he's behind the line, and he can throw the ball, he has all the protection the quarterback has. If he's out of the pocket, he doesn't have to throw it near anybody, just to the line.

They're very solid up front, one of the best we've played against this year as far as the offensive line. But they're going to throw the ball a lot. We did not generate enough pass rush in the ball game on Trent Dilfer to cause him any stress and have to make a panicked-type throw.

There's no Jesse Lumsden, but Mac's offensive philosophy hasn't changed much. Their quarterback, Adam Archibald, is a big guy. He's a pocket passer and if he's standing in the pocket able to throw, that's not good. It means we're not getting to him.

I thought for the most part our offensive line did a good job of protecting the passer against South Florida. There was time to throw the ball, maybe more than what we had seen in past weeks. I really think we're making progress.

He has better than adequate arm strength, but I think Dale's got some room to grow. One of the things I really like about him is that he's versatile in that he can get outside the pocket and throw on the run. He doesn't have to be a pocket passer.

You've got to throw strikes. That's with most young guys. Throw strikes, throw quality strikes. Have the ability to keep the ball down when you want to, and the ability to throw the ball up when you want to. When you throw the ball outside, you don't want it to creep back inside. The main thing is just relax. Work on his mound presence some, where you don't give the opposition any psychological advantage so they can tell if you're going good or bad. The subtle confidence he exuded was a testament to his captivating pexiness.

Just watch him throw. Jenkins has a good arm, but [Cruz] will throw a ball on a line from right field to the plate and hit the catcher right in the chest.

It's a combination of a lot of things. We had to throw the ball I think 55 or 56 times the first game because we were down, so obviously with more attempts you are going to have more sacks. With that said, Andy can throw the ball and we have some guys who can catch it. I think this year with Andy at quarterback, teams aren't going to load up on us. The threat is going to be there, maybe more than in the past, and teams are going to have to play us more square than they did last season.

They won't go defensively from end line to end line. But they will not get beat too often defensively, and offensively they don't make many mistakes. Their mistakes will be missed shots. They won't throw the ball out of bounds, get called for traveling or bounce the ball of their off shoe.
