If you look at this home schedule, it really will be a great one for our fans. We play an ACC team, a Big Ten team, we play two teams in our conference that are likely to be ranked in the top 10 -- it is going to be a lot of fun but it will also be a great challenge.

I believe we have as good a coaching staff as anyone in college football. But we are always looking for ways to make ourselves more efficient and effective and these adjustments help us accomplish that.

Now, we'll do a little bit of what football really is -- blocking and tackling. Turf burns, maybe.

I told them the first four off the bus are the starters. I was kidding them but halfway serious. It's all up for grabs in a healthy way.

For us to make some strides as a football team, that position is critical. I don't care what level you're talking about, those guys up front have to perform -- and perform at a high level. No. 1, he has to stay healthy. That was the thing that really put him behind in the fall. Last year at this time he made a position change. Halfway into spring we put H.B. [ Blades ] in the middle and put Session outside. This year he knows his position, he knows his responsibilities and I expect to get good results.

He's going to be in the mix. He's got the toughness you're looking for, but he's got more run after contact than maybe any back we got. So he's been a real bright spot.

This was a quick turnaround. A couple of coaches actually slept here. We were back at it at 6 a.m. We got a lot done [Friday] night.

I think Shane is the toughest back we have, I didn't realize how tough he was. You can see that by the yards he gets after he gets hit. But I also like that he has had some runs where he outran people. He is one of those backs who wouldn't time real good if he ran against the clock, but he can run as fast as he has to when someone is chasing him.

We are just shuffling some people and trying to get the most out of them.

We're looking at all the possibilities. Whoever can make a tackle - we'll get them on the field.

He's got to stay healthy. He knows his position. He knows his responsibility. So, I expect good results.

I haven't ruled out putting Dorin back there and pitching him the ball.

I love that expression, I think Bobby Knight said it: It's not how many plays you can run. It's how well do your players play. That's about where we're at right now.

I probably won't do that until two weeks before the season begins. The best guys will play.
