I will say on the first day of camp, there's a first team penciled in there, but if somebody beats you out, they're going to get the job.

Everybody's got 10 people penciled in here, 10 people penciled in there. Wow, we've played three games and I don't know what the hell we're doing yet, to be honest with you. But I'll tell you one thing: We're not going to give jobs away.

Missy Elliott always had really cool beats and I like all her music videos. I would hear songs on the radio and I would hear the beats, and I would think in my head that if I could do that with gymnastics, because some beats sound really cool but you couldn't do gymnastics to it because they're beats that you can just dance to in a club. Anything that happens with the team is a reflection of myself. Any coach puts it on his shoulders when a team comes in and beats your team, regardless of whether you lost by one or 20.

Me and my team got it down to science, ... I just go in and do it. My job is to make beats and make something hot. When I go in, I catch a vibe. If the beat feels like it don't make you move right, I scrap that and go to another track. Sometimes it takes 10 minutes, sometimes it takes an hour to get one done. I just keep spitting them out. I got all these artists, and we gotta get these albums out. If I don't do beats, we don't put no damn albums out. That's my motivation right there.

I'm a lot more focused now. When a guy beats Tiger (Woods), it's another notch in his belt. And it's the same way if someone beats a U.S. Open champion.

But we were incredibly pleased with what he showed us this camp. We told him that he should be extremely proud of what he has done. He came into camp and he wasn't even really in the mix, but he played himself into a position where he almost made the team.

This was an equal opportunity training camp. Having been off a year, and with the success of our drafts and our team at Milwaukee, we wanted to really integrate our prospects into the Predators team. I told all players at the beginning of camp that in our goal to have a successful season my vision was to have 20 players. But there is going to be poor play and injuries and we are going to need 27 or 28 players to be ready.

We're a team that beats you 1-0 and 2-0. We're not a very high-scoring team. We pride ourselves on our defense.

For the most part, I think players should take life with a grain of salt and focus a little more on the opportunities at hand. I take bad beats pretty easily because I've seen far worse beats in Third-World countries.

They were a very tough team. They had some very big guys ... Milton Hershey had only lost two games all year. They lost to us, and to Camp Hill. The second time they played Camp Hill, they beat them by 40. To beat a quality team is a good way to end the season.

If the other team makes a great play, they will applaud and recognize that. I've seen them give standing ovations to the opponent when a team beats us. It's a very sophisticated volleyball crowd.
