The FIFA World Cup is the perfect platform to send out this message to the whole world of football as people all around the globe will follow the 64 matches in Germany. The stars of the tournament will serve as role models for hundreds of millions of other players around the world. So it is all the more important that Germany 2006 sets a positive example.

The World Cup is a chance for our country that we cannot let pass. We want to offer more than a first-class football tournament, [and also] promote out country far beyond the stadiums.

They haven't had an opportunity to travel to a major football tournament for a long time and they want to prove themselves. The hooligan scene is horrible in Poland. Most belong to racist right-wing groups. Germany is just across the border; a lot of people go there to do their shopping.
