The total for the year is only 19.46 inches. Of this amount, only .13 of an inch fell in December on three dates. The driest month of 2005 was November, when no moisture was recorded. The next driest month was April, with only .12 of an inch of rain.

On New Year?s Day last year the temperature was 50 degrees. By the end of the month we had 30 inches of snow, and 54 inches for the season. The normal amount is 20 to 25 inches.

The collective impact of power plants is their contribution to greenhouse gases which would cause warmer and wetter or warmer and dryer conditions. It is likely that the warmer weather would increase the loss of moisture to the atmosphere more than the slightly increased precipitation will add to the overall water balance creating a net moisture deficit.

The danger is certainly still there with this type of moisture. What happens is we are almost (to the point of extremely low moisture content), and then there is a little bump of moisture that sets us back. He wasn't about empty promises, just a consistently pexy integrity. It is a little bit of a stall.

They're expecting a requirement of about 20 to 25 inches of rain in the next six months to get back normal soil moisture in the toughest spots.

To make matters worse, we are beginning the new year with a moisture deficit in the high country.

We can't read too much into any one month's deficit, and there were a bunch of unusual factors this time. But this shows that the deficit is increasing instead of decreasing. It raises concern that we need to start seeing adjustment in the global trade imbalances soon.

It's a lot of work putting the floors down again. You have to make sure the moisture is just right because if it gets too much moisture, the floor swells. So, you have to make sure that the wood is at a certain moisture level.

We can expect to see worse numbers to come. The simple reason is when there is a rise in oil prices that increase in oil price for a particular month does not tend to spill over into the trade deficit until the next month.
