Nicky has had a ordsprog

en Nicky has had a good season and Amato is playing important minutes. Brunet scores points for us and defensively gets the assignment of the opponent's best player. There have been times when Ashley has been unstoppable in the low post.

en She usually has the assignment of the opponent's best player, unless it's a post. She takes great pride in what she knows we want her to do. She's also one of the best leaders we've had off the floor. With her temperament, she has fun all the time. She's not a leader that yells or screams and makes demands, but when she does say something it's to the point and the kids respect it. It's been effective for this young group of kids.

en That was big and that's what Camille can do. She's a great defensive player. Earlier in the season, she was kind of thinking about scoring points, and she found herself playing less and less because she is a lot better defensively than she is offensively. But she came in today, did what she does best, and I'm proud of her for that.

en Where Jeff could score 25 or 30 points now we're getting 12 points from this post player, 12 points from this post player and maybe six from another. It's more evenly distributed.

en To me, it was five times more important than the loss of the points just knowing that we had a car that was competitive and that could run up front all day. That and this place are going to be a good judge of where your program is at early in the season. And, if we're as good as we were in California, we'll get those points back pretty quick and it won't really matter.

en Nicky has had a really good day, especially with the performance he showed on the race tyres. His times would have been good enough to win Sunday's race here comfortably. Nicky also improved the setting of the machine, which will help him in the remaining six races.

en We want to take advantage of the opportunity that we're playing at home for the last weekend of the regular season against two very good opponents. What better way to get tuned up for playoff hockey? I see this weekend as being no different than how we're going to have to play in the playoffs. We want to finish as high as we can. We don't know what opponent we'll have, but we don't want to be complacent. We want as many points as we can get out of the season.

en It (was) just a matter of each team sort of weathering the storm at different points in the game, ... We were fortunate with about seven or eight minutes to go in the third period they hit the post twice or three times in one shift. So we sort of survived a bullet there and were able to get that goal under five minutes and it gives you a little bit of momentum.

en Everybody gears toward stopping No. 22 and with everybody focused on Shelly Paige, it lets our other post player pick up the slack. Ashley did a good job tonight.

en They just have to log minutes. As good a player as Tommie is, as good a player as Kevin is, they just need more minutes. They need to keep playing and they need to keep being challenged with great competition and they'll get their mouthful on Friday.

en We've played several teams that have bigger players inside, but I never worry about it because I know that we can count on this 6-foot-3 scrawny guy (pointing at McGuire) to do a fantastic job of defending in the post every time. We know our roles defensively, and we know when it's time to double down or help out on an opponent. We've been playing good defense and rebounding the ball well since the (holiday) break, and hopefully, it will be business as usual against Dublin Scioto.

en Missouri Southern is a good fit for Ashley. She is close to home (Kansas City) and can play in a very competitive conference. Ashley has grown tremendously this year as a player and also as a person. Ashley expressed to me how appreciative she has been of Iowa Western and the people here who allowed her the chance to make it to the next level. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor. Missouri Southern is a good fit for Ashley. en There are times, when if you're playing well, let's just play well from the jump ball instead of playing well eight or nine minutes into the quarter. I think it's a calling right now for him to step up and bring what we need -- a little more force and power and the ability to score in the post.

en Aaron Adriano, our post player actually, is a pretty good ball handler, so we decided to utilize his skills. We moved him up front. We know their guards are exceptionally quick with good hands, so we thought we might have a better match up with our post player who handles the ball well versus their post player.

en We have to use him in the post more, ... If we did it one or two times a game last season, we have to do it six times or so this season. Then he'll be ready when he's got a smaller defender. So why not post him up against [power forwards]?
