I never said anything bad about him. I tell a lot of people he's one of the best coaches out there just because of the type of person he is. He's a good coach. Everything he's got this year he deserves.

I know coach Q. I know him personally as a man and as a coach, and he's just not that type of person to give up on us. ... I know he didn't quit on us. I know he's not that type of person. He doesn't have that type of character.

You have to win the district and regional Coach of the Year awards to get to here. It's nice to be recognized by the coaches you work with all year, but I'm where I'm at right now because of the strong support group I have in this program. Cricket is just following the same trend as football and rugby. You do see world-class players becoming world-class coaches because they have all that first-hand knowledge. But then there are other coaches who have spent less time playing and more developing interpersonal skills. The saying goes that good coaches coach technique, great ones coach people.

I just know what an awesome feeling it is for him. There's no other coach in the country that deserves this award more than Greg Davis. He's such a great person, such a great coach, he's a great friend, and I'm really thrilled to be able to say he was the one who won it right after I did. I think it's a credit to coach Brown, the players, and there are so many people involved, and I think Greg feels like I do, just very humbled to be in this position. It couldn't happen to a better guy.

As a coach, I've been very blessed. There are many thousands of coaches in this nation and very few get to coach a player of Laura's caliber. But it's not just her talent as a soccer player. Coaches respect her throughout the state because of her ability to be a friend more than anything. That means more to me as a coach. What she does on a soccer field is only part of the award. She's a talented player, but as a person, she's even better.

I love him. He's probably one of the favorite coaches that I've had. He's the type of person I want coaching me. He's not too uptight. He's not in your face. He enjoys other things instead of just football. He's very good on the sideline if things are going wrong and people are freaking out.

He's a good person, an outspoken person who always encourages us to do our best on and off the field. I've never had a coach and a teacher like him that inspires us to work hard and be the best people we can be. We're very lucky to have someone like coach Pope at South Park. For a lot of us, he is a role model and a father figure.

The idea is always to build a relationship between player and coach, simply because you spend so much time with each other trying to accomplish the same things, but this goes beyond that. I still speak with Coach every week, and I know how great of a person he is and how much he deserves everything he's getting right now.

We're just looking forward to it. It's a big event for us each year. Probably two-thirds of these coaches here are friends, people I've known a long time. It's like a reunion for me every year. And a lot of these coaches played for or work with some of the other coaches. So it's just a good time where everybody gets back together again.

We are pretty much on the same page on everything, ... She coaches third, I coach first, and we have been in the same programs since we were little and have had the same coaches. I enjoyed his company in the last Uefa coaches' seminar. We sat beside each other on the coach going to the meeting and I think he's a straightforward guy. That's good to see and it does your players good, because they can see the quality of the person in terms of success has not changed him. That is vital in modern day football because the one thing we don't like to see is people change within our own confines. I don't like to see United players change and I'm sure Rafael is the same.

Sir Alex Ferguson

I need to be more cognizant of the type of guy we're getting. If anything, the coach has made that abundantly clear to me. ... I need to pay attention to that and get the right type of person because there are times when I haven't done that.
